Guy has averaged 4 losses a season at Utah. I know I know "but the resources!!!". If any 8-4ish type coach of a smaller program was a garutneed success if you gave them the keys to a bigger program they'd all be highly coveted every year, which isn't the case.

He's a good coach but he's not moving the needle at a bigger program in a higher level conference.

Michigan is basically going to be Utah Midwest from the looks of how he's gonna form his staff. Which means 7-9 wins usually with maybe a 10 win season here and there if things fall right.

His resume is there to see, plain as day. He runs a very Urbanesque spread style offense, which was the shit back in the day, but the game passed Urban by.

They should be very concerned about Whittingham pretty much being solitarily isolated in his coaching career to Utah and Idaho.

He has pretty much no in roads within the B1G, the midwest or the south. The Samoans already love BYU, USC and Ore. They don't need to go the Ann Arbor to play.

DBFIA are super reaching with what he brings to the table.

He will do a fine job and win the games he should, but beating the elite B1G programs on their schedule may be a stretch.

We shall see. Seems like a solid person, but the jury is out on whether he performs well.

What he does certainly bring is a good moral forbearance which is what they need now.

His main assistant choices look like they are "his guys" who are also purely west region guys as well. You'd think he'd at least try to bring in a OC or DC who had some major program experience and B1G or SEC region type in roads, but nope. These are guys whos only major experience is at Utah and BYU type programs. That would be the most concerning part to me if I was a DFIBA member

Just sayin': I doubt it too. Nobody is going to offer him more NIL money than he is currently guaranteed to get at scUM. If a school is going to throw that much $$$ at a QB in the transfer portal; they are going to throw it at one of the top rated/ranked QBs in the portial like Sam Leavitt or Byrum Brown.

could it be, that this is the start of cleaning up the mess in aisle three left by Harbaugh and Ono? Could it also be a sign that they want to be able to put football on the back burner in order to deal with the threat of losing their real meal ticket, research? These are difficult times for higher ed and the Big Ten hasn’t shown much inclination to fight against the 2025 movement.

The only reason he stays is to collect the rest, which in all fairness is life changing money. Ok, looking at what he did this year, just take the money kid and hope for the best. You can get one more year in transfer to Central Michigan.

Is he a guaranteed starter though? Whittingham's offense is reliant on a dual threat, with a emphasis on the running part of the dual.

Whittingham is playing with house money. Why does he give a shit if a over hyped kid bolts. Scum is in a vulnerable position.
