2024 tOSU Defense Discussion

Going into obvious passing situations with Hicks-Sawyer-Tyleik-JT-Sonny across the front would be absolutely absurd.
We’ve been saying that for 2 years but oddly it hasn’t hit home as much as we thought.

I think Jim needs to trust his secondary more and get a little more exotic with blitz/sim pressures.

With the secondary we have we should take more chances than we did last year. I actually think we can be aggressive like 2022 because the secondary is just so good (much better than 2022).

That D-Line is gonna be scary good this year. Got the correct personnel in place.

Honestly I don't think we'll have to do much thinking on the starting lineup is the good thing. JT, Jack, Tyleik, Hamilton. Biggest challenge is the rotation behind them. Lots of great former recruits and I think Houston will make noise immediately. Plus I've seen enough from Curry to say he'll play plenty. Should be fun to watch.

The fact that Knowles is willing to discuss in an open forum using different DL fronts (with a tip of the hat to coach Johnson), shows that he's unique in his thinking. Most coaches stay with what brought them there. Would like to see what a full Bear (4 DL, plus Sonny and CJ) should overwhelm the 5-6 OL against them. 1 LB to stop leakers, and the 4 DBs on the field (thank you Caleb), could lead to a game changer. As always it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Wish the announcers would analyze the plays as they unfold, rather than talk about their experiences of yesteryear. Go Bucks!

I think a major X factor is Kenyatta Jackson! If he can put together consistent high end play, than you’re talking about easily one of the top 3 best defenses in the country. Also, if the coaches can get on the same page on utilizing the Jack, what they’re going to do with Sonny and CJ and how will they rotate DL and CBs
