They're underestimating how much Michigan loses after this season. After already losing a ridiculous amount from '23. They're going to need a lot of transfers just to hang around .500 next year. To return to the cheating era of success*, they'd need a new coaching staff, some superstar transfers, and 10 guys who are plug and play starters.

I think they are overestimating Michigans ability to buy players as well. They got a couple of alumn to pump a ridiculous amount of money into a HS QB. I’m guessing the generosity isn’t going to be as high with other players at other positions of dire need. The immediate chain reaction impact of getting Underwood is rather underwhelming. The WR from LSU is a decent prospect but nowhere near elite. The other flip they are looking at is a low 4* DB who is comitted to Colorado. Edit: I guess they are trying to poach some LB from Duke too. Poaching guys from Pitt Colorado and Duke is not high level pay and play recruiting. Those are more of the types they might get they aren’t hauling in a load of elite recruits to accompany Underwood.
There’s no instant fix here for them. Like you said they lose more after this year and they have ZERO depth anywhere. They would need plug and play starters at almost every position and somewhat decent guys to back up those guys.
Best case for them IMO is they manage to lure in enough transfer talent to make them a 8-4 team that doesn’t completely embarrass themselves rather than another 5-7/6-6 cliff dive seaso. That best case might even be hard to achieve though. If NCAA sanctions hit though everything falls apart and they will be of directional Michigan quality in 2025.

After the decision to remain home went public, 104.5 ESPN Radio's Matt Moscona revealed the deal for Underwood reached the $12 million mark.

It's life-changing money for Underwood. There have been several reports over the last few weeks on the amount it would be with numbers hovering around the $10.5 million mark, according to On3 Sports, but it appears the number went up as the Early Signing Period inched closer.
Just sayin': scUM made Underwood an offer that he couldn't refuse.
Hell, I'll say for $12M, 99.99% of all the 2025 recruits in any state would go to scUM solely for that much money.

Kid woulda never even pondered playing for Moore if that 12 mil wasn’t dangled over his head. Very good chance that if things go not so good (likely) next year he will take whatever money he can actually collect and bounce to another high bidder. This is the problem with giving HS players a bunch of money to go play somewhere they never woulda went otherwise.

You can tell they blew almost all of whatever new NIL budget they got on Underwood their new pulls along with him are going to be a just decent 4* WR, and poaches of a DB from Colorado and a LB from Duke. Nothing near landscape shattering.

2. You need people to block for him, WRs to catch the ball, an offensive coordinator.
3. You actually have to throw the ball

Good on him though. He’s going to get enough money to retire if he’s smart with it and won’t have to do anything in terms of wins.
The is kids not going to make it through a season with what’s going to be around him. They lose their entire DL, everyone of note in the secondary, multiple OL, starting RB, starting TE, and more.

GoBlow is a riot they think transfer portal WRs are going to be lining up to play for them. No higher level guys with NFL aspirations are gonna sign up to play for a coaching staff that hasn’t shown it can run a passing game that’s past middle school level…..with a freshman QB behind a questionable OL.

Underwood can't lose, other than sheding self-respect and dignity by going to Michigan. Hope he got a $1 million signing bonus, redshirts, and then bounces at the end of '25.
