Michigan is going to be reintroducing a new starting quarterback in the 2024 Battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. Sources tell CBS Sports and 247Sports the Wolverines will start Davis Warren at quarterback against Michigan State. Warren started the first three games of the 2024 season before losing his job to Alex Orji, who then lot the job to Jack Tuttle after a few game. Tuttle passes the ball back to Warren after Michigan lost to Illinois, 21-7.

Warren, a former walk-on, threw two touchdowns to six interceptions in his three starts (66.7 completion percentage, 444 yards). Michigan beat Fresno State and Arkansas State with Warren and lost to Texas, 31-12. The Wolverines have not gotten any semblance of a passing game going the year after winning the national championship. Michigan ranks No. 113 nationally in offensive yards per play and No. 133 in yards per attempt, second-worst in college football.

Orji never eclipsed 100 yards passing in any of his three starts, though he was 2-1, beating USC and Minnesota and losing to Washington (a game in which he was pulled). Tuttle threw for 98 yards off the bench against the Huskies and 208 yards on 62% passing in the loss to Illinois.

Just sayin': scUM continues their QB1 merry-go-round.......

Holy shit...Moore is in way over his head...

I honestly wonder if this is just a smokescreen for Sparty and they fully intend to roll with Orji. Because otherwise this just doesn't make sense at all. The goal at this point should be trying to squeeze every possible win out of their team...trying to develop a passing game in November with Make-A-Wish kids at QB is just not gonna happen :slappy:

Going full Wing-T with Orji is the best they've looked all season...

Warren : Att 72 | Comp% 66.7% | TD%: 2.8 | INT% 8.3

Tuttle : Att 50 | Comp% 60.0 | TD% 2.0 | INT% 4.0

Orji : Att 43 | Comp% 53.5 | TD% 7.0 | INT% 2.3

Seriously, looking at the stats if you are Moore who do you start? If Orji could complete a pass, that's obviously who you choose...but his skill set does not fit the offense they run at all.

Maybe start Davis, hope he can get downfield without throwing a pick and then use Orji in the red zone? They're in such a shitty, hilarious situation.

Was talking to a Georgia fan yesterday and he said I must be loving all this stuff with Michigan and I told him he’s abso-fucking-lutely correct.

Davis ain't burning his redshirt. I think he'd walk if they tried to force him to play. That motherfucker will be in the portal at 6AM on December 4th.
