"That defense"? Like the defense that knows the play you are running?
Ohio State's culture of coverup. You mean the school that internally discovered Tressel's emails with the lawyer, took them to the AD, who took them to the university President, who turned ourselves in to the NCAA?. The university that internally discovered Jim O'Brian's payments to the family that was housing his Serbian players and then fired him on the spot...fired him so quick that we breached his contract and lost a $2M lawsuit?

If we have a culture of coverup, we're pretty damned shitty at it.

Yeah out of all that bullshit, that's the one that got me too. Dan Wetzels can suck my dick from the back.

Stuff like Stover's story is fine. But it doesn't tell me anything new. It's like DBB's numbers that indicate that *ichigan was cheating. It doesn't mean anything to me because I already 100% believe it.
Drop a ball out of your hand and it will fall toward the ground. I know this. I don't need more evidence.
Do more people need to be convinced?
I say we drop the hammer on their program, already, and watch them run around like little ants trying to rebuild their anthill.

I think it might be another piece of evidence that they had stolen practice footage. Up to now, that side of the scandal is mostly rumor and speculation. The folks actually involved in these things are being tight lipped about that since it involves actual federal laws being broken.

If it can be shown that Ohio State didn't run a screen from that formation at any time during the 2022 season, or, more likely, that tCUN can't show a piece of legit footage of tOSU running a screen from that formation, then having players call it out as a screen pre-snap is pretty damming. Shows players with knowledge of the scheme as well as stolen practice footage.

From PD's posts, repeated here, it seems that the practice footage issue is NOT part of the current NOA. That looks to be a 3rd wave of violations to be levied once any criminal investigation is over.

So yeah, I think Cade's comments could end up being rather important.

tl;dr
Fuck those fucking cheaters.

Would be hilarious considering DFBIA is even more brushing these off as "jealousy fueled conspiracy theories" because nothing about it is going to be in the current NOA, even though it never was because it will be a completely different investigation if those things are indeed true.

I think he's talking about the right side that CJ scrambled to. Their entire defense compressed to cover the screen perfectly and even though CJ made chips and a sandwich behind the LOS for 5 seconds, he was still able to get 5 yards. If he took off upfield right after getting around the DE, he gets close to the endzone. If that's not what you're talking about, my bad.

Seems like the only way to beat that defense was to have an RB capable of burning them that badly, or with a very athletic QB that could attack upfield as soon as they showed recognition for the play being run. But it's also easier said than done, especially with hindsight.
Yea, the lineman abandoned their rush lanes to cover Stover. The one guy that stayed didn't play contain. Fields would have housed it. There were a lot of moments like this the last couple seasons where they looked like idiot savants, but would give up a big play anyways because the whole defense overcommitted. Now we know why.

In the 2021 MSU game, it's so obvious. The linebackers and safeties would drop their assignments at times and charge the point of attack on runs, leaving other gaps wide open. Kenneth Walker was too good for them to do that, and Michigan too unathletic. One of his touchdowns there were three Wolverines in the same hole and he was able to bounce away and score.

I think they refined how they used their sign intel after that because they were so out of position so often.

That would make sense. Even if the defense knows what's coming you can't all run to that spot on the field. There's an Xs and Os guy on Twitter pointing out some things like the LBs still biting, but the edge LB just watches Stover the whole time and the FS and wide DBs don't even acknowledge the possibility of a run play.

They wouldn't necessarily need practice footage for this. They just need the signs in great detail, and they could decipher a play and formation they've never seen on tape. They'd know screen pass left. What it does show, is they scouted us thoroughly, they didn't even need to confirm signs, this was the second drive of the game.

I absolutely believe the practice footage exists, but I think this story is more about showing how big of an advantage illegal scouting is.
