The "joke" of institutional arrogance is actually their move. They're basically saying I dare you to shut down a program as big as Michigan. Yes, their product on the field when they aren't cheating has been garbage......but it's still a big program that people (certainly not me or any of you) don't WAN'T to kill the way SMU was killed. It's what they deserve, though.
I don't want it killed the way SMU was killed. I want to beat those ass-turds down until they lose their oh-so-precious all-time wins glory, and their head-to-head wins with Ohio State. Take both of those from them, and then you can kill them, if you want.
I feel like a gangster in a movie. Don't kill the rival leader, yet. Let him stay alive to watch his family starve to death... THEN kill him. I know that's pretty gruesome, but when I remember it's really just college football, I'm okay with it.

I just don't think that the NCAA gives a shit about what the general public thinks. The general public doesn't have all the facts. Jimmy and the rest of those arrogant MFers have been pissing in the NCAA's face for too long. Now it's their turn .....
Yes. They’ve swung the big stick before when the evidence is there.

Well the evidence is there and the people/entities involved thought it was to BET on themselves. Well now it’s time to face the music.

Also yes pay attention to the verbiage of all these things. They’re using the lower issue to set this bigger one up “failure to cooperate” and “failing to monitor” etc

Eh, I'd be fine with the "death" penalty or even them truly never being allowed to play football again. You know those fuckers would be pounding their chests to the beat of, "We own the all-time record" and Buckeye fans can quip, "Yeah? Well, when's your next game?"

Agreed. Which is why they won’t be put to sleep like SMU.

But they’re going to get punishment at least on level with those who violated rules in the last few decades

The ncaa has said they will never again levy the "death penalty" as the effects on SMU's program essentially wiped them off the CFB map permanently. That isn't on the table. What absolutely should be on the table though is vacated/forfeited wins, removing ncaa recognition of their NC, suspensions/show cause for coaches involved, heavy recruiting penalties, and multi-year postseason bans. They should basically be neutered for the next decade. The B1G should get off their nebbish ass and strip them of their 2021-2023 titles, too, and ban them from the B1G championship game for at least 3 years.
To be fair, SMU wasn't on the CFB map until they started cheating in the early 80s anyway.

They're not going to shut it down. Death penalties and TV bans will never happen again. But as you say, they can cripple it on the field, and it will still serve its purpose for college football as a big program. I think that's what they'll do. Cripple it on the field, ban it from the post-season for a couple of years, but still let it exist to drive revenue. This will probably make them the most hated program in college football for some time, and that drives ratings.

Correct. We need them to be the CFP version of the Gimp from Pulp Fiction. Pull them out of their box each fall Saturday and violate them repeatedly ....

I really think expectations will not match realities. I keep hearing things like this, and I understand and agree with it (mostly), The problem here isn't that this sentiment is wrong, it's that outside of the B1G in general, and Cbus in particular, a lot of people aren't that invested in seeing true justice. A large number of people just do not care that Michigan cheated. A large number of people do not feel like thay have any horse in that race. The NCAA is consistently inconsistent and a large number of onlookers do not have confidence that anything will come of this, even if they think something should be done. Lastly, there are wide swaths of college football fans who hate the Buckeyes and they are more amused than outraged at the antics of that booger eater. He is a spectacle, beyond the punishment of the NCAA, and many bleeding hearts don't think it is fair to punish the kids there now for the bad actions of former coaches.... with all that said, I am thoroughly enjoying this brouhaha and relish the absolute certainty that we know they cheated and they know we know and they have to defend their cheating ways for all time. That title comes with it's own galaxy of asterisks and it is glorious.
In the Twitter/X world, they are getting hammered by a lot of new B1G team fans, old B1G fans, and SEC fans... plus the ND and Clemson fans.

I know it is social media, but big CFB accounts like the CFB Nerds and CFB Report are sharings facts and hammering TCUN. Take that for what it's worth.

Probably already posted, but Harbaugh's own recruiting director testified that not only was he aware of the illegal recruiting but he was demanding it happen.

A former recruiting director at Michigan football told the NCAA that Jim Harbaugh urged him to “get guys to campus” and fostered a culture of indifference, urging staffers to “go up to the line and cross if you ha(ve) to” during the pandemic-era dead period.

See, I don't even want them to pound their chests, in the first place.
I see him walking down the street with his *ichigan hat on, and I see that he sees me with my Ohio State hat on. Sure, if he tries to bring up the all-time record, I can just laugh it off. But I want him to slink out of my sight, knowing he should be ashamed to even wear that disgusting hat.
I want them to dread anytime someone brings up "all-time wins". "We used to have that!!! Boo-hoo."
I want them to dread The Game, knowing that they once chirped about head-to-head record, and can't, anymore.
I want them to hate Ohio State more than anyone hated anything in their lives.
For you Simpsons fans, I want them to become and accept that they are Gil Gunderson.

You know when the time comes that we're about to pass them in the head to head record, they'll pull a covid year and then try to never play us again.

Not a TV ban but could advertisers/partners sue the shit out of scUM if the NCAAs final reporter is damning enough? Since scUM would have totally compromised the product they were advertising.

Enough lawsuits and very bad negative press and the true arrogant academia types that still remain at the top on the board at Michigan might act and put their own restraints on the Football program.
