So the current lines for the quarterfinal games:

#1 Oregon +1.5 vs tOSU
#2 UGA -1.5 vs ND
#3 Boise State +10.5 vs Penn St
#4 Arizona St +13.5 vs Texas

Was it worth it for Oregon and Gawja to win their CCGs?

The teams they beat have a much easier matchup. This could make them re-think the seeding, and the B1G and the SEC will probably push for it.

So Oregon goes 13-0 and gets the #1 seed. As thier reward, do they get a cupcake like Arizona State or Boise? Nope, they get the team that lost to them by one point at home and is favored to beat them at a neutral site. Something in the CFP format needs to change....

I wonder how much flexibility they really want though.

I can almost hear a RB rep behind the closed doors of the CFP seeding telling them "we'd like to see Ohio State and Oregon"

Maybe just me being too cynical but the Bowl reps still having their tentacles deep into the games wouldn't be all that remarkable.

I’m not sure how much of a difference the weather made in the first round of games, but it was great to see warm weather teams have to play in the cold for games that mattered.
The teams up here have been clamoring for it forever. I’m with you it may not have been a huge impact but it’s a small treat this weekend may have helped validate a lifetime of hypothesizing.

After the first round blowouts, I think they'll stick with this because they need at least half the quarterfinals to have the potential to be great games.

Part of the lifetime of hypothesizing is about the proximity factor as well.

USC Miami and LSU have won how many NC's over the decades in either their actual home stadium (Orange Bowl) or across town/backyard (Rose Bowl, New Orleans)

We've always said let's play a NC game in Cleveland and tell me it's a neutral site kind of thing. Then the weather that would be involved has always been the added kicker.

I know they won't do it because of the Bowls (may they burn in hell) but I'd like to see an exact NFL playoff copy and have every game but the championship played at the higher seeds home field*.

*as an added bonus, it would make you pay even more for letting a "meaningless" game at the end of the year slip. Help prop the rivalry games up a little longer.
