2024 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

I would just like to once again point out that espn will be hyping Jeanty’s run at the ‘single-season’ rushing record that Barry Sanders set in his 1988 Heisman year. They will show that he needs 132 yards to ‘break the record‘ and have a countdown yardage tracker throughout the Pedster game on New Year’s Eve to keep folks interested.

But Sanders‘ total of 2,628 yards is the NCAA’s ‘official’ total for that season, set in 11 games, and doesn’t include the 222 he got in the Holiday Bowl. So he really rushed for 2,850 in 12 games, an average of 237.5 per game.

Jeanty has had a helluva season, but he’s currently at 2,497 in 13 games, an average of 192.1 per game. It’s a great season, but not one that should knock Sanders out of the record book, since he’s getting 45 less yards per game. I’m actually hoping the Pedsters keep him at or under 130 yards so the record isn’t ‘broken’, which describes the NCAA‘s outlook on official records.
I would actually bet on him Under 100 yards. Now the thing might be, he's at about 60 in to the 4th quarter and if PSU is up 20pts or more, he could burn the scrubs and they would give it to him. I say fuck that and I'd be on board with any petition that denies him that record if so.

I actually don't know a damn thing about Boise's QB/passing game.

I understand where the focal point of the offense has been, but it seems like he's going to have to make "some" plays to even keep this close.

QB and WR's are all very "G5" kind of players from what I have seen of a few games this year.

On paper I don't see any way Boise can keep the PSU defense honest but then again, somehow they kept it close with Oregon so who knows?

If they only counted Jeanty’s YAC he would still move the most rushing yards in the country.

1,655 yards after contact, and since Kaleb Johnson isn’t playing today, that stat will hold true until the Fiesta Bowl.

I would have to say that PSU is usually going to kick ass against a 1 dimensional team. Their D is good at taking something away vs no-Ohio State teams

Cignetti Named Big Ten Coach of the Year

After one of the biggest turnarounds in FBS history, Indiana head football coach Curt Cignetti was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year as announced by the conference office on Tuesday (Dec. 3). Cignetti earned the Hayes-Schembechler Big Ten Coach of the Year from the conference coaches and the Dave McClain Coach of the Year from the media that covers the Big Ten.

Just sayin': Dave McClain had a 46-42-3 record at Cheese (1978 - 1985). Surely the the media find of found a better coach to name their trophy after?

Big Ten football coaching wins leaders
  • Woody Hayes, Ohio State, 1951-78 (205 wins)
  • Kirk Ferentz, Iowa, 1999-present (204)
After Ferentz passes Woody for the most B1G wins maybe could rename it the "Kirk Ferentz Coach of the Year " trophy.....
