2024 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

I'd take it, but it's completely impossible since we would have a rematch in Indy with Oregon. Either we get the bye or get a second loss and drop down into the 3-tier. Don't get me wrong; I'd love to stick a plunger up the ass of the little sisters of the poor.

I'm still hoping for the day that teams losing their CC game don't get punished much. Earning an extra game and losing to an elite opponent does not justify being dropped below idle teams you were better than beforehand.

Meh. Maybe a close loss to Oregon will keep Ohio State in the first round home game group.
Maybe.

I don't understand this?
Why does he have the Buckeyes a a Five Seed when they are ranked higher that the Dawgs?

Is he projected a B1G title loss to Oregon?
I honestly think he is just going through the numbers after the highest ranks (1-4) go to highest conference teams. However, in reality that is what would happen for the Buckeyes to not be a 1-4 seed.

Sounds to me like these 'experts' are expecting Oregon to beat tOSU again in Indianapolis. Or maybe as Loveland describes? The cannibalization of SEC/B10 has yet to occur. I get that this is a snapshot in time of standings as of today, with three more games to be played, plus a league championship. After reading my own post, this snapshot will change, probably a lot, as the final rivalry games, rest of league season unfolds. For my ownself, will look to Vegas to see what the outcome looks like. It's in your hands Buckeyes! PS, mentioned to a TTUN guy that 'regardless, it's gonna be a battle', and he replied 'not this year'....guess the Wolverweenies have packed it in? Believe it will still be a tough game, turnovers will be key. Anyway, Go Bucks!

Took me a bit to get my head around that. Seeing the 1-25 list of teams, then looking at the bracket confused me somewhat. Guess I connected the dots the wrong way. BP writers helped me get it straight. Thanks guys, and I guess take care of business, and when we play Oregon again, and be ready for their flim-flam, and then once again (as per the current bracket), yet a third time, tOSU will be dominant. Go Bucks

I don’t think the ranking system takes into account future games. So as it stands, Oregon is being treated as the B1G champion by virtue of their higher rank than OSU.
I think you're right. I don't see a path to getting Ohio State to the 5th seed at this point. Either they win out, including the CCG (and a 1-4 seed), or they don't, and get ranked 5+. Since the 5 seed will likely go to the highest-ranked non-P4 champion, Ohio State would need to lose somewhere, yet still be ahead of the SEC non-champion and other Big Ten non-champions (Penn State can win out and still not make it to the CCG, Indiana can beat Ohio State and then lose in the CCG, or they can beat Oregon, giving Oregon their only loss). And Notre Dame - you never know what the committee will do with Notre Dame.
