You're probably the one I remember who said you were there.
You know, I get it. I've been in seats in the stadium, and other stadiums, where you can't tell if a field goal is good or not. Or, it looks good and they say it missed, or it looks bad and they say it was good. I get it. Case in point: 2003 Purdue. Ohio State made a field goal in the first overtime, and Purdue missed their attempt. Sitting up in about 21C, I thought he made it. It was close, but I thought he made it. I can go back and see that he obviously missed it.
About 2:30 in this video.
The only video of the 1974 game is tough to see.
About 2:42:30 in this video. You can see the ball go way left. Does it go left and stay in the goalpost or does it go left too fast and miss? Unless you're the ref under the posts, or have a view that buckeyeintn says he had, I don't think I'm putting any faith in your view.
Also, I like how *ichigan fans say that the whole stadium went quiet because they "knew" that Lantry had made the field goal, and Ohio State had lost. Ohio State only cheered when the referee chose to do what would get him out of Columbus alive: call the field goal "no good". The replay looks to me as though the fans are cheering pretty early. I'm guessing that the *ichigan fans are just grasping at straws.
I'm surprised this guy didn't include 1972 or 1973. 1972, from what I've seen them complain, was when they were down 14-11. They could have tied it with a field goal, but chose to go for the win. (Commendable.) From what I've heard, Ohio State held on a goal line stand on 4th down. *ichigan fans claim it was easy to call it a touchdown, but the refs said it was turnover on downs.
Here's a horrible copy of the game:
At about 2:10:00, there's a goal line stand. It's pretty close, but I see no reason to think he scored.
And of course 1973. People say that *ichigan outplayed Ohio State. But B-O-O H-O-O. We all know of games where the team that played better didn't win. It happens.
