In a fair world, yes.
But remember: Jim Tressel never won Big Ten Coach of the Year.
Urban Meyer never won Big Ten Coach of the Year.

How could coaches like Tressel and Meyer be expected to compete with luminaries like Ron Turner, John Smith, Zook, Brady Hoke, Balderdash O'Buttchin, Jerry Kill, Paul Chryst (twice), Tom Allen or Mel Tucker?

Having to compete with legends like that at the same time Ferentz has been dominating the conference for the past 20 years is more than could be reasonably expected of any one not named Saban.

Don't say this shit as if they've beaten us for 3 years. They fucking skipped because they were afraid. Don't let anybody forget that.

Yep, then went on the greatly benefit from the COVID year as well after ducking us.

They might be strong again this year but next year things get very interesting for them when they finally have to replace a ton and the positive effects from those COVID holdovers are mostly all gone. Almost all of their meaningful contributors are upper upper classmen and the younger guys have really shown nothing. So we will see how they do with that in 2024.

It's a joke how it ended up but I guess it is what it is.

2020 would have been another 3TD+ beatdown and could very well have gotten Harbaugh moved on down the road. They were desperately bad and fed up at that point.

I think it speaks to the nature of their program that they got a reprieve from a global pandemic that killed millions. They actually benefited from COVID. Think about that.

At least they will end their COVID benefit run with 0 national titles. Even if they happen to make the playoff again you know they aren't winning it. Their "great success" has manifested into a blowout non competitive at all loss to UGA and a hilarious upset loss to a TCU team that lost by 58 points in the national title game.

Yep. Simple Jim has built a team that can beat Day in November, but it's also a team that can't stay on the same field with an SEC team for more than a quarter.

The #1 draft pick is actually the most reasonable prediction

Some idiot front office could absolutely to get wooed by Spin Passes workout warrior athleticism and "arm talent" even though it's never really produced big time on the field at scUM. See Anthony Richardson, he didn't go #1 but he was close enough for how bad he was in college.
