I live in Illinois and have yet to see a sportscast that mentions this scandal maybe if scUM played Illinois or Iowa it would. It’s big in Columbus and blogs that love the massive OSU clicks. It makes me yawn until scUM is given the death penalty.
I live in Charleston,SC. I've been waiting for the local newspaper (Post and Courier) to run some sort of article on the USCe allege scandel with the Vols and Clemson. Crickets ....

I know the sports editor and have been tempted to call and ask Gene WTF buddy ....

As camera tech becomes smaller and the resolutions orders of magnitude greater, this was ultimately unavoidable.

I think this will be the death of the “check with me” no huddle/tempo offense with color coded GAs waving sandwich boards and playing charades, and college coaches will be forced to let their QBs trust their eyes and make calls at the line, and barring earpieces for the QB and MLB being allowed at the FBS level, reverting to running in plays with the near-side WR.

I mean, would we lose anything if Day ran the plays into a huddle by rotating Fleming/Tate/and X as the third receivers while Harrison and Egbuka stay on the field?

You know this made me think why aren't teams putting trackers on the QBs eyes in practice? Get some really good feedback on what they are looking at and when. Then compare it to say a Peyton Manning. And I get it you would need some baseline stuff. But this is an interesting thought on using tech to train players.
I know they already put those eye projection devices on QBs for training. I am just thinking live bullet feedback.

I know I have been proponent that this situation is going to get much worse for TCUN with more allegations, so maybe I looking at things with confirmation bias but-

If you would the the new Big10 commissioner and you KNEW that new allegations were going to reported in the near term would you

A) Make a decision on a punishment now OR

B) Wait for the new information to come out and make a decision on punishment then.

I don't think you can do nothing and let Michigan play another game as if nothing ever happened.

Something needs to be done by Friday night. If not then, when?

I would take the rule violations to Michigan and ask them for an explanation. They would have 2 weeks to provide one.

If they don’t have an explanation then I’d suspend their year.

From there I’d decide on a punishment based on what else is found.

If I know the major issues are true then I wouldn’t hesitate because I wouldn’t want to a) void another championship, b) it affected the other institutions and c) they’d have taken enough already.

If the Big 10 does anything they, will NOT cancel in season games period. The local economic impact alone would be enormous. Best case would be ruling TCUN ineligible for post season play. They don't need to provide the definitive final penalty because the NCAA will do that eventually.

IMO the Big 10 could wait until the Sunday before The Game.

We will still have to beat those asshole to get in the playoff.

First, I agree with you. "Someone" needs to do "something" to punish them. And it should be done before M*ch*gan can finish robbing the Big Ten of their championship game.
But, I'm going to explain the other side of the argument:
So, there are 8 entities that can keep M*ch*gan from getting into the playoffs.
1. M*ch*gan. They can come out and say that they were doing stuff they shouldn't have, and they are cooperating fully with investigators and have agreed to excuse themselves from post-season football. A true punishment can be determined at a later date, and would likely include the 2023 post-season ban.
2. Penn State. If Penn State beats them on the field, we likely don't care about what happens with other post-season stuff. I mean, they should still get pounded by punishments, but they won't be as urgent.
3. Purdue. Same thing.
4. Who else do they play? Maryland? Same thing.
5. Ohio State. If Ohio State beats them on the field, M*ch*gan can get away with it for another couple of months, for all I care.
6. The Big Ten. The Big Ten can say, "Hey! I won't let you rob my house!" And that'll be the end of that.
7. The NCAA. The NCAA can say, "Hey! We have power! You're in time out, Buddy!"
8. The playoff committee. The committee can say, "We want to show the world that we have integrity, and we don't want the team that wins our playoffs to have to vacate it. You aren't invited."

So... #1 isn't going to happen. M*ch*gan I'm sure feels that a vacated championship is only slightly worse than a real championship. M*ch*gan will get to sell shirts and videos and all kinds of boof stuff that says they won a championship - Big Ten championship, national championship, whatever.

I'm not convinced #2, #3, or #4 will happen.

#5 - who knows? I thought Ohio State was the better team the last couple of years. Now? Who knows? Can Ohio State figure out a way to neutralize the espionage? I mean, sure - they beat it in 2020 against Clemson, but that was 4+ weeks to prepare. I mean, this one is probably my favorite scenario, but I just can't tell, anymore.

#6 - this was the one I was hoping for. But I'm getting more and more pessimistic. The Big Ten should want to avoid a chance at a vacated championship. However, they're likely in a similar situation as M*ch*gan: a vacated championship is better than no championship. Personally, I disagree, but I'm not the one with millions of dollars to gain.

#7 - this one won't happen. Assuming it's right that M*ch*gan has 90 days to respond to any notice of allegations, that would put us to February 1 if they got the letter today, which they won't.

#8 - It's still possible, but with them being ranked #3 yesterday, it doesn't seem likely. Maybe they're just trolling M*ch*gan, though. Rank them #3, then #2, then #1, and then when they win the conference championship game, drop them down to #9, or something. Ha. Meh - we can't count on this.

It'll be interesting to see how much influence Vegas has on their penalties. I think the "Using Sign Stealing in the Second Half" is as much about attempting to not make it look obvious as it is trying make sure that your intel matches up. They're good enough where they can hang with just about anyone for a half without cheating and they're good enough to beat the directional schools outright. Then, you get to act like it was such great second half adjustments/coaching that got you the win.

It screws with betting from the start. I'm not informed enough on it, but doesn't most betting services allow in-game action? You thought they were gonna blow out FCS Midwest from the get-go? Na, they were gonna slow-play it and go in 17-7 at halftime and, then, turn on the cheat adjustments and dominate the second half, winning 48-7, and covering their 39.5 spread.

I'd sure hate to be the one (or anyone who allowed) to screw over someone with a lot of money and a lot of money to make someone "disappear."

We have a good number of non-OSU fans here. What are fans of other teams saying about this? I mean, being M*ch*gan, we're all going to have a one-sided opinion about this issue. I saw Greyshirt weigh in, which is good, but Sparty is also a rival of the cheaters. What about the teams that don't play the cheaters that often? What are Georgia fans or LSU fans or Texas fans saying about this?

Something that has been rattling around in the back of my head has been that this point does probably make us extra susceptible because of how Ryan Day wants to playcall.

From my perspective, even without someone stealing the signs, I think his maniacal (and I really don't think that's too strong a word) desire to get a play in that counters the defense is sometimes self defeating. One, it takes too long sometimes, two I think he gets too cute and calls a play to counter the look we're getting and maybe not the best play for the situation (down and distance, score, time left, etc), three, when you're ad libbing I think you're less likely to break tendency and as a result you're more predictable and finally, you know, they still have to stop whatever the first thing you called which hopefully was the best option.

Add in the idea that they know what the change is, and you're fucked.

And yes, it drives me a little nuts that the QB can't change himself.

Obviously one of the ways people are going to counter this is to call a couple plays in the huddle and then pick one at the line. If we do that, gonna be a lot of run blocking! (Sadly wr screen is always option 3)

All that said I think good coaches are at their best out of their comfort zone. (Bad coaches cheat)
