Or Harbaugh has a couple of high profile Regents/donors in his camp who've gone to the mattresses, and JuggalOno is bending to the prevailing winds. What's Harbaugh's relationship with Ross like.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. Honestly, if there is some indication they used espionage on OSU to win the last couple, and the success tanks, Scum will be stuck with that huge ass contract.

So if they feel comfortable, I guess bully on them.

Yeah, that's a good point. Whatever posturing that they're doing publicly, they have to be considering that these last three years can't be replicated and Simple Jim could very well revert to 2018-2020 levels.

This really means nothing IMO.

It gives them a bullshit "LOOK WE STAND BY OUR COACH!" grandstand, but in the end they can still fire him with cause and not have to pay a dime if the NCAA slams the hammer on them.
Another good point. I'd assume the contract will have an ironclad clause for what constitutes with cause termination.

Also, the previous contract might be weak in that because they assumed that Michigan and Harbaugh could never, ever cheat. New contract will supercede the old one and might give much firmer grounds for with cause termination.

It's as easy an out for moral turpitude as MSU had with The Chicken Choker.

Might get more complicated because they went into it knowing there were some questions but overall, I agree, they have outs and it likely saves (to a degree) his ass on the recruiting and assistant coach hiring fronts.

Just like the Patriots cheating led to to free agents flocking to New England, Michigan has much improved their recruiting due to their cheating success. Right? But at least now you'd hope current recruits can smell the bullshit.

It looks dumb as shit to go forward with his contract while under investigation though no matter the outcome so you do you morons

They could be adding language in the contract that if he/they get's dinged it is deemed a cause that will stop his getting paid in full.

Either way if he is getting a contract extension, I take it as the school does not expect a major impact from the investigation. It is what it is. He may have just firewalled himself from any liability, and the NCAA doesn't see it as a lack of institutional control.

At the end of all this, he is going to be seen as a sleezy douche bag, as well as a cheating program. God forbid they get exposed going forward.

Which is why I can't help but wonder that the current contract might be weak in the with cause area. Bolstering that is the only reason I can see for the negative pr hit they're going to take.

Yeah way I see it is they’re completely selling out. All of them have zero moral compass at this point.

They’re relevant again and if it means keeping him then so be it but they’re going to ride this wave until it breaks man.

So go ahead and sign the contract. Because it won’t matter if this is all true. He’ll just be fired with cause if it is anyways.

How in the face of all of this they can extend Harbaugh is mind blowing to me.

Seriously mind blowing.

So if all of this is true do they just not care? Would they just go down with the ship then?

Until anything is done by the B1G or NCAA, there is nothing happening. They will protect themselves contractually as well as the program (recruiting, opportunities, etc.) until they have reason not to.

Language in any contract put in front of him, I’m sure, will be such that it will be easy for them to jettison him if / when they want.
