3. OHIO STATE (4-0) - 2 FIRST-PLACE VOTES
The Buckeyes were the big dogs, and coach Ryan Day made sure to speak in favor of his team after a 17-14 victory over Notre Dame. Chip Trayanum won it on a 1-yard touchdown run as time expired. And Day had a lot to say about his team after former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz set him off with comments made prior to kickoff.
“I’ve been emotional, the team will tell you that for the last couple days,” Day told reporters, via CBS Sports. "When I started hearing some of the things that were (said). First off, it’s not true. I don’t know where people get off just saying things. It really upsets me. Put the film on. People make comments and they don’t watch film. Our guys are tough. They’re physical. They do it and they get after it. I don’t know where (Lou Holtz) gets off saying those type of things. I have some other things I’d like to say to but I’m not going to say that because I’m more respectful than he is.”
