The timeline will depend upon how many players transfer. If there are few transfers and he figures out the recruiting thing, then 3 years makes sense if it's not good.

If he has to replace most of the roster, then he'll get more than 3 years just because year 1 and probably year 2 will be rebuilding.

He has 2 nice wins, but Thursdays’ game was a typical sleepwalk that the team had been doing all season. This is his chance to show he can do it for more than a few games before they decide.

Up 18 in the 2nd half at Penn State and lost
Up 18 in the 2nd half vs Indiana at home and lost

They would be 18-10 (8-9) and would be in the field as of today (or at least right there on the edge of the bubble)

Helluva win today. Okpara had a huge game, gotta give him a lot of credit. This game was a perfect matchup for him. Bonner came up big at the key moment. And how about Devin Royal with a career high to break 2 long losing streaks on the road. Great win for OSU!

The MSU win is vital for OSU's tourney chances. I'm saying 19 is the absolute bare minimum win total to possibly bubble in. 20 to put yourself more clearly on the right side. Now, they have a much more manageable road to 19. Gotta win vs UM, and at least one of the other 2 games.

Nebraska is looking very tough, and a terrible matchup for OSU. Okpara was beyond torched by Mast in the first matchup, got completely dominated. Need a better strategy defemsively to try and win that game. Clearly not missing anything on D if Battle sits again.
