 Fuck Michigan’s offense, when they’re not running it with the QB or finding something open via play action with no pressure, they look extremely stoppable (with a competent D coordinator calling plays).

Regarding the running with the QB observation, no wonder they were forced to go with McCarthy… his runs are a full 1/3 of their offense.
Their offense obviously gains a ton of momentum throughout the game if the opposing offense can’t put up points (or even stay on the field in a Penn State’s case) and just lets them grind all game. No matter how good the defense is, they wear down eventually if their own offense can’t knock Michigan out of their relentless grind by making them play from behind or at the very least keeping them off the field for stretches.

Pretty big fuckin stretch of a comparison, imo

I didn’t make it.

He relies on running it a ton and hasn’t shown he can throw very well, especially from the pocket. Is he an exact clone? Obviously not. But it’s also pretty clear the comparison is being made on those two things.

People’s minds are also likely being clouded by being forced to watch Clifford for the entire game, who is like the valu-brand Barrett on his absolute worst day.

Isn’t super great at throwing down field, relies on running the ball A LOT in order to put the offense in manageable down situations where another QB run or dump off pass will get the first down.

But the point is that in a game that most of us assumed would be between two fairly evenly-matched teams, Michigan overwhelmed Penn State on both sides of the ball. McCarthy got away with one ill-advised throw and got a first down out of it, gave up a pick-six on a batted ball, but otherwise played a solid game. Corum looks like Chop with a bit more breakaway speed. Their defense did things to Penn State that I haven't seen a Buckeye defense do since the days of Tressell. That's a top 4 team. Fuck Clemson and ACC football.

Whatever they are, I don’t feel the need to praise them and will happily continue to degrade them in any way possible to the point of being unreasonable. Fuck them.

Yea, I don't feel like we learned anything new today about scUM.

Agreed. We learned more about state penn defensive issues than anything. Their secondary is good, but you really don’t have to beat them to win.

If anything, I think the staff likely got some tape of tendencies from tsun w/r/t the QB run option. Defend the ground game well, force them to play catch up in the air… set fire to couches.

I dunno if their secondary is good because:
1 - They hold on every pass.
2 - We didn't see them today since they allowed Corum to take whatever he wanted.

I could definitely use a new couch.
