I have a working theory that between 30-35% of each graduating class doesn’t give a shit about sports at all. No hard data about this BTW. Just academic rankings and my cheap assumptions
I think that's a fair number. I don't have hard data, either. They might have paid attention to the sports teams because it affected what the local party situation would be. But they don't really care. I had an aunt and uncle, and 3 out of 4 of their kids all went to Duke. The aunt and uncle probably never went to a basketball game, but I don't know Duke basketball history back in the late 60's or early 70's. The first cousin (went to Duke probably '94-ish to '98-ish) probably never went to a game. The other two (probably '98-ish to '02-ish) probably went to a couple of games over their 4 years. And not because it was so hard to get tickets. Maybe it was, but I highly doubt that they cared.
I would also say that *ichigan's fan base is probably a higher percentage who didn't care about sports. (Oddly enough, the fourth cousin in that family spent some time at *ichigan).
The people I know who went to MAC schools also care very little about sports. I know Ohio U grads who don't care at all about Ohio U sports. I know probably 5 Miami (OH) grads, and 1 is interested in his college's sports. I know 2 BG grads - both say they used to go tailgate before games and then go back to their dorms/apartments to watch Ohio State games. And 2 Kent State grads - 1 is a huge Buckeye fan, and the other doesn't really care about sports.

When I lived in Austin, it surprised me the amount of UT students who could care less about football. The tailgating would still get thousands of people, but there was still a good chunk of students who were doing their own thing and were oblivious, and couldn't tell the difference between Colt McCoy or Matt McCoy.
I laughed when I went to a concert and Cedric Benson was there, and he got mad because bartenders didn't recognize him.

Imagine what it was like to go to a D2 or D3 Ohio school not named Mount Union. Where I went it was basically a large number of Buckeyes fans and a smattering of Wolverine fans from Hilliard, Maumee, and Bellbrook that cheered for them to be seen as different. Plus the two weirdos that rooted for ND.

I did. I went to D3 Case Western Reserve. No one cared about that team. I think most people didn't know they had a team. Some buddies and I would go and they'd ask us to run the first down chains. It was a blast. We'd usually end up laughing at how bad our team was (look, they were better than I would have been, but it was still funny) or, if Case was actually winning, at how bad the other team was.
But... back on topic, yeah, most people there didn't care about college football. I got a few into Ohio State, but most of the local Cleveland nerds were more Browns fans. (That was before they left.) The nerds from Pittsburgh were mostly Steelers fans, and only became Penn State fans when Ohio State was playing them. A couple of Philly guys - same deal, except one really was a Penn State fan. One guy from Pittsburgh was an Iowa fan - I forget how that happened. There were a few guys from Toledo who were magically *ichigan fans. They didn't enjoy me when Colorado beat them. But they got their revenge at the end of almost every year. Eff those Effers. In 1998, the one guy from Tennessee was a Tennessee fan, but he changed to another team the next year. Eff that guy, too.
i think one guy was a Texas fan, but he didn't really care about college football. He liked the Houston Oilers. (Who??)
But yeah - no one cared about CWRU football. The rumor going around was that security would sometimes get calls on Saturday just after noon because the PA announcer at the football game was too loud and they were trying to study. Those guys are all probably millionaire doctors, so they can laugh last, I suppose.

and their next opponent is UConn (#17).....

So I haven't seen their response, except that there has been no response to this, yet.
But here's my guess: "We beat those pea-brains so badly that they're now considered the worst teams in the country. I can't wait until the end of November when Ohio State appears on this list. We've broken col

They haven't gone that far, yet. Though they do claim that even though these teams they've played are awful YOU CAN STILL TELL SCUM IS ELITE!!! Because of "how fast and athletic" they look against these teams.

Teams that made Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee look "fast and athletic"

Ex-Michigan star Jake Butt shares thoughts on Jim Harbaugh's decision to start quarterback J.J. McCarthy

“You have to go out there and have a successful day, that’s the minimum,” Butt said. “You did what you did, you put up points, you drove the offense down the field. From there, you’re looking at the intangibles. J.J.’s accuracy — no two completed passes are the same — where is the ball placement is the key, right? And he was so accurate downfield. I didn’t see one missed throw the entire day. Every single ball was on point … his accuracy was high level, he was getting through his reads. His ability to move in the pocket, step up and make off-schedule throws, as well as make the easy on-schedule throws.”

Aidan Hutchinson shares one strange thing Jim Harbaugh did at Michigan, answers if he hates Ohio State

“Every day when we were going out for practice, he would be doing his little pre-practice lifts and he was always going really hard in the squat rack,” Hutchinson said. “And some days, he would actually have his shirt off in the weight room as all the guys are getting ready to go out there. You know, you see coach Harbaugh with his shirt off, and his Khakis on and his cleats just ripping out some squats in the weight room. I think consistently seeing those things — that’s normal to me now — just cause I was around it so long. Those are just kinda the day-in-the-life things that you get.”

“I certainly don’t like them,” Hutchinson said in regards to whether or not he hates OSU. “Hatred? I don’t know. I don’t hate a whole lot of things. But I don’t like them at all and I never will. So call that what you want, but yeah.”

While hate might be a strong word, Hutchinson didn’t make many Buckeyes friends along the way, and has a few now solely because of the team he was drafted to.

“I have no friends before the Lions at Ohio State,” Hutchinson said. “But now that I’m on the Lions, there’s a couple Buckeyes in there, Buckeye grads. And you know, we don’t talk about it. But it’s OK. And that’s fine. I didn’t know them during their Ohio State days and now our paths have crossed, so it will have to do and those are my teammates now.”

The wheel's still spinning, but the hamster is dead. Nothing can change my mind about that.

Cade McNamara injury: Michigan QB 'out a few weeks,' J.J. McCarthy remains starter

Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara exited the Wolverines’ 59-0 victory over UConn Saturday with a leg injury, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. McNamara subbed in for starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy but was battered and took a few hits. McNamara did not return to the sideline after halftime with an undisclosed injury.

“Cade unfortunately, his foot was caught in the ground and got hit from the side,” Harbaugh said postgame, via The Michigan Insider's Sam Webb. “He’s probably going to be out for a few weeks. Not going to be a season ending thing. Nothing like that but he’ll miss some time.”

That'll give him time to contact a head hunter, make some appointments, take a few calls. Notre Dame on line three, Cade.

The stats look good on paper but scUMs oline had quite a few breakdowns and looked suspect at times against 3 of the worst teams in FBS. Will be interesting to see them against a defense with some kind of order and speed/athleticism where they won't be able to get by on just being faster and more athletic.

Also when it comes to the Dline/Pass Rush

It appears Colorado State just has about the worst oline you'll ever see. Western Kentucky 9 Sacks/13 TFLs & Washington State 7 Sacks/12 TFLS against them

scUM since their 7 sacks/11 TFL performance vs Colorado State. vs Hawaii 1 sacks/2 TFL vs Uconn 0 sacks/5 TFL
