Very good. How’s the red zone TD % stack up though?
# 1 thing for a play caller: call plays you can execute. A play that your team has repeatedly shown it can’t execute is not a Great play.Massive massive problems on this side of the ball. I don’t care about yards - those will get racked up in today’s game.
Stover was asked to do way more than he was physically capable of doing. And that’s on the coaches. I don’t know how they repeatedly tried to run outside plays to his side (stretch runs, tosses, WR screens).
OSU offensive scheme was flat out horrible. Playcalling was disjointed.
Offense was only Stroud and Harrison for the most part. Stroud regressed and would pretty much be one read and panic. WRs couldn’t get open late in the year. Run designs were all screwey. Red Zone/long drives fizzled out. There was no urgency and killer instinct.
Pass blocking was good. And Super Marv was a bright spot.
If this is Day’s baby, he’s not even carrying his end of the deal.
Yeah. I had to put myself in time out of the game thread after he tried to run Chip outside and it got stuffed when we needed to get points that drive. And I will definitely not be rewatching that game. NopeAnd quit going f*%!ing horizontal. Felt like all the Bucks had was side to side or pass up the sideline (for a Marvin Miracle).
I’m too pissed to rewatch but everything felt “safe” which is odd for a 2nd year QB and this supposedly great WR corps. I just can’t believe what this offense became.
3 points…3 second half points when it mattered.
Agree with this all!ttun defense played us like most teams - nothing new.
Keep everything in front - let us move between the 20's - try to hold us to FG or get a TO when the field gets tight.
First half went like I expected - 20 pts - could have scored more, but not bad. With decent DB play, we should have been up double digits.
Second half - wtf??? Everyone puckered - penalties - went away from power running - panicked when we fell behind.
To me, 2nd half offense is on the coaches. Most of the defense issues are on personnel.
So many 3rd and 2-3 yard failures this year. Day had no clue what he wanted to do. No “go-to” play. He’d get paralyzed between passing or running - neither seemed to work. Then a toss to Chip w/ Stover blocking outside? Gtfo.Yeah. I had to put myself in time out of the game thread after he tried to run Chip outside and it got stuffed when we needed to get points that drive. And I will definitely not be rewatching that game. Nope
It's worse because this game we were hammering them and getting all the short yardage plays to work, except the goal line but that was a cluster fuck again. TE motion's into the the end of the line, it's a fucking run that direction every single time! Duh. Change that shit upSo many 3rd and 2-3 yard failures this year. Also felt like Day got less aggressive on 4th down? Maybe should have played some of these situations as if there was 2 plays to pick up 2. Would need to check 4th Down attempts but there were a lot of times I thought Day needed to show some testicular fortitude and go for it this year - if this was the high powered O he built.
(Side note, did it seem like we had the most 3rd and 2s in the country? I swear I would be thinking “here we go again” multiple times a game. Why can we run for 8 yards and then get stuck. Or pass for 8 stuffed for 0 and 0. Maybe it’s just bias from my PTSD about short yardage failures)
We didn’t use the elephant package because Fryer was playing guard. And we didn’t have any blocking first TEs on the roster. So many 3rd and 2-3 yard failures this year.
