Game 1: Notre Dame - Two of ND's three other opponents have scored more than Ohio State did on them

Game 2: Arky State - Ohio State scored the most (45), but Memphis came close (44)

Game 3: Toledo - Ohio State scored 33 more points on the Rockets than all of their other opponents combined

Game 4: Wisconsin - If you combine the point totals of the teams that scored the 2nd and 3rd most against Wisconsin, then add a point, you get the number of points Ohio State scored

Game 5: Rutgers - If you combine the point totals of the teams that scored the 2nd and 3rd most against Rutgers, then add a point, you get the number of points Ohio State scored

So if I combine the point totals of the teams that scored the 2nd and 3rd most against Sparty and add a point, I should be very close if not exact to the total that OSU will score this week? Hmmmm. A plan is hatching

EDIT: That would be 62. Oh my :cash2::cash::groove2:

I get that there are extenuating circumstances but I would not have guessed the RB carries breakdown through 6 games would be Henderson 69 Miyan 64 Hayden 52
Or that Xavier Johnson would take meaningful snaps at RB (who looked awesome doing so if I might say).

Switching topics a bit. I just can't wait to see this offense with Jaxon/Marv/Fleming/Egbuka in the fold.

I don’t think we’ve ever been this deep at both WR and RB. Our third stringers could legitimately be not only a starter, but also a star. Typically a team has “their star” at QB/RB/WR and generally it’s only 1-2 guys, not the whole damn lineup.

We’re rolling guys in like we picked em off the waiver wire.

And to think we’ll get EvanPryor back next year, as well as Mark Fletcher. So even if say we were to lose Miyan Williams, we’re still deep.
We lose JSN and Babb(and possibly Fleming), but return everyone and add Inniss, Tate, Rodger’s and Rogers.
It sounds like an assembly line

Not to switch to next season but it's always fun to look ahead sometimes. That said...

I'd be shocked if Fleming went pro and the same for Williams. The only issue for 2023 is the OL where I think we need to attack in the Portal. I like our back ups but if we can add a top flight OT then next year could be special again provided McCord continues to progress.

Back on topic. Anyone have an opinion on how this offense ranks vs LSU 2019 and Alabama 2020?

I think comparing any year to the Covid year is like comparing apples to nuclear reactors. There’s no point.

That said, I think Burrow >>> Jones, so I’d probably say 2019 LSU is the better benchmark anyway.

CJ has already had 1 game worse in PE than any game that Burrow had in 2019, but he’s already had three games better than any game Burrow had that year. CJ is a little behind the pace that Burrow was on at this point in 2019, but it’s hard to compare as LSU played Northwestern State and Georgia Southern in the first half of that year.

I’ll probably have a lot more fun with this comparison AFTER the Buckeyes win the Natty and make this discussion valid

This part. Burrow and LSU's offense that year straight torched some top defenses and did it in especially incredible fashion through the playoffs on the way to a resounding title. We obviously have not done that yet and I think we are definitely capable of it (especially with a healthy JSN/Henderson/Williams), but here are where the defenses we play stack up overall according to Sports Reference: Notre Dame (#52), Arkansas State (#106), Toledo (#65), Wisconsin (#32), Rutgers (#46) and Michigan State (#74). So all the defenses we have faced are terrible, below average, barely average and one quality defense in Wisconsin. The offensive performance against Wisconsin was very impressive.

That said, we are about to find out how good the offense is. The rest of the slate notably has Iowa: (#3 defense), Penn State (#13 defense), Maryland (#48 defense) and *ichigan (#5 defense). Frankly, I love how this schedule has set up for us. Got a bit of a test from ND to start, then got a chance to really get humming before facing a pretty tough second half of the schedule with really good defenses. Plus we get a bye to rest and heal up before hitting the tough slate. And if we get to the B1G title game against Illinois (#1 defense if you can believe it) or Minnesota (#2 defense if you can believe it), that will be yet another test for the offense. So if we do get to the CFB playoffs, we will have had plenty of tests from defenses that would be of the ilk of UGA/Bama/Clemson/USC/etc.

Also, since I bring up all the top defense rankings, we are #1 on offense on that same site (and #16 on defense). Pretty impressive no matter who we have played.

Those comparisons may be apt, but make me nervous. Arguably, some of our best/most talented teams since I've been watching haven't been the ones that won NCs - the Cooper all-star teams that dropped heart breakers to scum and Michi-Lite; 2016; etc.

Difference is coaching. Cooper acquired some great talent, but made some head scratching coaching decisions, or was just plain out coached and didn't make many in game changes. Day is different from most coaches we've had, as he's in no way stubborn or complacent. And isn't afraid to make changes to personnel(staff or players) anytime he sees fit, whether that be in game or during the week. I believe our past coaches would've given Coombs a pass last year, and tried to keep him on staff, same with Barnes. Day had no problem not only moving on from the entire defensive staff(save LJsr), but then going after arguably the best DC in CFB, and assistants who had high levels of success and fit the criteria he was seeking

No doubt. I completely agree that this is the best across the board program/staff/team we've had, at least since I made the trek north and joined up in 1991. I just think it's a little early for me to think about best ever outside of tOSU, and we'll see what happens. At a minimum, IF this team wins the CFP/NC, i would rank it as the best of our NC teams.

I'm still quite partial to the 2015 team, and that MSU loss to still stings. That would be IMO, the best team across the board and their season still stings.
This season's offense will be thrilling to watch, because like has been said all off season, if OSU can just have a competent defense in the top 20-25, then they should be NC bound. But the games need to be played
