2022 Rose Bowl, tOSU vs Utah, Jan 1st @ 5pm EST, ESPN

I'm the same. But the changes for the athletes are monetary only. Not that I blame these kids for attempting to protect themselves and their financial future. I won't trash Olave or Wilson or any of those guys. I guess what I'm saying is, if I had the ability to go out with my final game being a win in the Rose Bowl, I'm damn well taking it because battling with the guys who were beside me all year is what is most important to me.

And if wearing the colors with your team isn’t the most important thing, then, no matter how talented you are, you’ll still be a punk. There, I said it.

I agree completely.

My concern, and ultimately question is this - if the large amount of opt-outs, transfers and medicore dedication even to high level bowl games becomes the norm... how long before that attitude all but means fans stop showing up and stop watching bowl season? Why would I drop good money and fly 2000 miles to watch my squad half ass it?

Edit: obligatory fuck OU and Texas.

Frosted Tips made that point this morning on Gameday. He said that more and more players have less passion about the game of football and playing it. He predicted next we will see established players sitting out seasons or half seasons not to risk injury for the NFL. I can sadly see it becoming true.

I'm with ya. CFB was, by a wide margin, my favorite sport. I can't say that anymore. The fun and charm of it has been choked out.
Obligatory pointing out for full disclosure on this topic that if the NCAA hadn’t fought so hard for so long to make free billions while keeping the kids (many of them poor) amateurs, we would likely have an infinitely more well-thought out system

Herbie said that? Oh God... now I feel sick to my stomach for agreeing with him.

Thanks.

It's the natural next step and feels inevitable.
