On the other hand, Pete Maravich shot the ball 38 times/game. Davis only 21 FGA/game. Pretty crazy Pistol out attempted him in 3 years vs. 5. Guess he was gunning. So Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy is going to break the career scoring record in a few games. Some idiot on SportsCenter a couple of days ago said “to be fair, there was no 3-pointer when Maravich played”.
While that’s true, the actual “to be fair” statement should be that Pistol Pete couldn’t play as a freshman due to NCAA rules, and didn’t get a 5th year because of Covid.
Maravich, in 3 years, played 83 games and scored 3,667 points for a 44.2 average.
Davis, in 5 years, has 139 games so far, including 22 in the shortened season, and has 3,512 points for a 25.3 average.
It‘s a shame that Maravich will lose that record to a guy he outscored by almost 19 points per game due to the extra season.
Now the question is do they buy their way into a CBI type post season tournament? I would hope not.
I did more digging than any person should on a potential third tier tournament bid. It doesn’t look like it’ll happen for Detroit.I forgot about that thing. The CBI may invite them just to try to draw some attention and sell a few tickets. That would suck.
It's a 16-team tournament being held entirely in Daytona Beach this time around. Tickets start at $8.

The CollegeInsider Tournament (CIT) is apparently dead (who knew it was alive?). That means the CBI is the only one left after the NIT. They should have plenty of 18-20+ win options to fill the 16 teams. But who knows.
It also ended TTUN's season. Can't mention it without posting it.
