A recap of the rats so far.....

11 players from the 2020 team have transferred or are in the transfer portal....

2 players from the 2020 team have entered the NFL draft despite having 3 seasons of eligibility remaining....

And the 2 most experienced coaches have been fired and replaced by guys with zero college coaching experience.

So just to recap, Harbaugh’s son, who hasn’t had a coaching job in his life that wasn’t entry level (for four seasons, I’m pretty sure four seasons of being a grad assistant is a bit on the long end) or given to him by a family member, was retained while the coach widely considered their best (despite personality, people skills, and recruiting issues) was axed to make room for the HS coach they promised a job to in order to secure the commitment of Donovan Edwards.
3D chess, bro.

To save anyone the time from perusing MGBlow, I made primer for this year's cycle of delusional hype from the DFBIA.

The prime narrative: This influx of inexperienced to journeyman position coaches is good. No one having any track record of coaching success means they are all young uber recruiters.

Other parts of this theory you will see bandied about:
  • The very youthfulness of their youth is going to have 5 star recruits lining up.
  • Jim is making a shrewd move by putting an emphasis on recruiting and deemphasizing development/coaching experience.
  • They are well respected by their peers
  • Bellamy being promised a job to land Edwards is simply ignored.

I'm sure some new twists will come to the narrative as inconvenient facts start to get in the way but that's the cycle of each season up there.

EDIT

One of their quasi insider types posted a screen grab of his text conversation with a source (and he left his real name in the screen grab btw) who confirms the Bellamy hire was to secure Edwards.

Just in case the Op ever wants to take that down I thought I'd put it here

Being listed as the primary recruiter for a handful of guys at Texas A&M in your one season there, while having no other noted accomplishments or reputation as a recruiter in your six other college coaching stops, makes you a proven and highly successful recruiter.
