Maybe it's #1. But I wouldn't say that it's just Big Ten referees. Big Ten referees may not know how to spot what should be a holding penalty, but other leagues' officials have their own issues.
As for #2, that doesn't make sense. But it has some logic to it. I mean, I don't know how someone can hate everyone. But that's not the point. My point is that if Iowa is playing Penn State, and let's say the referee is named Nohn O'jeil (just to make up a name). And he makes a bad call against Iowa. I mean a really bad call that makes all Iowa fans swear to fart in Nohn's face when they see him. Penn State fans don't say, "Yeah, Nohn's not such a bad guy." They say, "That wasn't even as bad as the terrible call he made against us 5 plays ago." Selective memory and stuff. So maybe my vote is back to #1.
I'm pretty sure you're joking, but I hope it isn't #4.

If the refs are why you are winning or losing you are just not good enough. This is the absolute bottom line. If all has to go right and the refs must get every call perfect for your squad to win you are the definition of not good enough.
Which makes sense that the SCum fan base sees the whole world like this. They are so completely delusional that they can not even see the crap football in front of their face. That team is lacking.......and lacking big time.
Anyway, this is why tOSU has done so damn well over the years. They do not fall for moral victories or accept excuses. At some point you have to realize you are what your record says you are. You finish 8-4 or 9-3 at best 10 years in a row you are an average College football squad. You average under 1 lose per regular season over 10 years you are ELITE. It is really that simple.
I am a die hard MSU fan. I have no issues recognizing our program the last 10-15 years has been a top B10 squad but at best a regional GOOD team. They have not been a National Power at any moment in time. Even when they made the Natty tourney. Only tOSU has that honor in the B10. Stats and results do not lie. And it has been almost 20 years since the Skunk Bears have won a B10 title and they have not been to Indy yet. So they suck. It is really that simple. MSU wins this weekend against Indy (which should be an easy win) and it is going to be a long 2 weeks waiting for the game against this asshats. The wife and I are hosting the tailgate for our group so hopefully NOT a noon game.

I have a friend (Univ. of Washington backer) who constantly whines and cries about the officials and bad calls, "they've got it in for us" and all that nonsense. He's so bad its gotten to the point where I cant watch a game with him.

I asked him one time "If you're serious that these games are fixed or the officials are out to screw your team, then why the hell are you watching this?"

I mean, who is the fool in this scenario?

You have to remember, we are dealing with cock-goblins who think they should be hanging a banner for being "Co-Big Ten Eastern Division Champs" despite losing 62-39 to the team they we "co champs" with. I expect them to issue "life champion" rings any time now.
