Still haven’t managed to recruit their sixth year walk-on #2937 ranked OL out of a starting spot—that seems like a good sign for them.

Washington is ranked #20, so I guess that’s “prime time.”

What’s that, you say? Michigan is unranked and the underdog in this game?

What a great opportunity for them to break this streak and really get the hype train rolling.

The idea of them beating Wisconsin on the road is funny. Looking up the record as an underdog sent me to this glorious place.

"very talented"

As compared to....?
That's just their entitlement showing. Most of these oxygen thieves think simply putting on a wanged helmet makes their players "talented."

Washington by 14
I don't know. We know scUM sucks, but UW is a wildcard to me. They played all of 4 games last year and have essentially a rookie HC nobody knows much of anything about. This seems like the kind of game scUM could win and start pumping wind into the sails of the DFBIA. Or, maybe UW is actually pretty good and kicks their dick in the dirt.

While the former always makes for solid entertainment come October, I prefer the latter because fuck them I hope they lose every fucking game from now until Valhalla.

It feels like a game that could be a “solid top #20 win” coming out of week one, only for both teams to struggle to break .500 on the season.

I've got a casino bet on the under for their 7.5 win total. Let them lose early and often.

In which the Ministry of Excuses tries to convince everyone it's not THAT BAD...

https://mgoblog.com/content/trends-harbaugh-era-and-thoughts-hopelessness#read-more

The most baffling thing I continue to read in all of the tripe coming from the Lollipop Guild this summer is that they are somehow convinced (or TRYING to convince themselves) that they are loaded at RB and in very good shape at WR. The RBs bring back ONE guy with starter reps, Hassan Haskins, and he was...adequate...last year. A deeper dive into his numbers indicate he was a very boom or bust guy, in other words inconsistent. He'd rip off one big run, then disappear for 3 quarters (Pedtard game being a prime example of this). He's...okay...not dynamic. Which describes pretty much every RB they've had since Bike Hart. Blake Corum averaged a hair under 3 ypc in limited action last year, but he got swoll! After that's it's a true freshman who comes in with the recruiting accolades, but who's the last big time RB recruit who panned out up there? I'll wait while you dig back to find one. That's three guys, one with anything resembling experience at this level who has been... okay, another who has shown nothing but is SWOLL and a true freshman. 3 guys...LOADED. On top of that, I don't see anything in Bike Hart's resume that indicates he has the ability to coach that unit up to elite.

At WR, Ronnie Bell is...again, adequate. Not particularly dynamic, just steady. He wouldn't be in the 2 deep here or at most elite programs. After that is a bunch of guys who have proven nothing. Some were decent recruits, some were generic 3* guys and they have the FCS transfer who they seem to think is gonna be a stud.

None of this takes into account they seem to have a messy OL situation or that the guy they seem to think is gonna be their QB has one good half against a terrible Rutgers team to hang his hate on.

Remarkable.

The ministry of propaganda is kicking it into overdrive

In reality they are going to be bad, but with VARIETY!

Ace gives some reasons for optimism about the defense
Submitted by Blue@LSU on August 20th, 2021 at 4:31 PM

Ace has an article over at The Bucket Problem giving the reasons he thinks Macdonald and Co. might not only turn the defense around but actually be pretty damn good this year. A simplified version of his argument:

1. Beef: The projected starters will be heavier than even Wisconsin’s traditionally large DL. Even a lighter version (substituting, say, Welschof for Jeter) would outweigh Wisconsin’s (and even Bama’s) DL. Michigan will not easily be pushed off the ball like they have been in previous years. The DL is also well-suited to collapse the pocket and push the QB into a waiting Hutchison.

2. Variety: the 3-4 can be altered to match the opponent’s strengths. M has players that are flexible enough to line up at different positions—shift Hutch down to DE, move Jeter to nose, etc.—to help overcome some depth problems.

3. Dax Hill: He can play all over the backfield (enough said)

4. Havoc: Coach Mac is going to rely on unpredictability to sew confusion among opposing QBs. Might give up some big plays, but can also generate more turnovers to make it worth it in the end.

5. Top end talent: this really is a talented group.

Anyway, reading this gives me even more reason to be optimistic about the defense this year. He’s also put together some really good articles/podcasts about other aspects of the team and upcoming season. If you’re hungry for some football content like I am, I recommend giving it a look.
