Oh yea them trying to play a 3-4 NFL style defense this season is going to be "something to see" alright.

Considering they have nowhere near the fully equipped correct personnel for such a thing. The defense might actually make the offense look "capable" for once.

They're 3-3 against PSU, 3-3 against Sparty, and 2-3 against Bucky since Harbaugh has been there. Seems like they're batting about .500 with their true on the field peers.

So they are 8-14 and a quit against what some consider their "peers" to include the Buckeyes which are rivals but definitely not peers these days.

Edit for quitting last year.

They wish they were an on-field peer of Bucky or the Pedtards.

Since Simple Jim came to town...

Pedtards: 53-22 (.707, 3 Top-10 Finishes, 1 Div Co-Champ)
Bucky: 56-19 (.747, 2 Top-10 Finishes, 3 Div Championships)
scUM: 49-22 (.690, 0 Top-10 Finishes, 1 Div Co-Champ)

I guess they're in roughly the same neighborhood as Ped Aggy, but they're way behind them in AP Top-10 finishes.
I was pointing out that their peers aren't who they (or this anonymous coach) seems to think they are. Their peers aren't Ohio State, Clemson, Bama, Oklahoma, or Georgia. Their peers are PSU, Bucky, Sparty, A&M, Auburn, Florida, Texas, etc. Reflects in their head-to-head record, overall win %, and top 10 finishes.

Top 10-AP finishes by my count in the era of Simple Jim (from here):

Bama: 6 (2015-20)
OSU: 6 (2015-20)
Clemson: 6 (2015-20)
Oklahoma: 6 (2015-20)
Georgia: 4 (2017-20)
PSU: 3 (2016-17, 2019)
Notre Dame: 2 (2018, 2020)
LSU: 2 (2018-19)
Florida: 2 (2018-19)
Bucky: 2 (2016-17)
TCU: 2 (2015, 2017)
A&M: 1 (2020)
Cincy: 1 (2020)
Iowa State: 1 (2020)
Northwestern: 1 (2020)
Oregon: 1 (2019)
Minnesota: 1 (2019)
Texas: 1 (2018)
Washington State: 1 (2018)
UCF: 1 (2017)
Auburn: 1 (2017)
USC: 1 (2016)
Washington: 1 (2016)
FSU: 1 (2016)
TTUN: 1 (2016)
Stanford: 1 (2015)
MSU: 1 (2015)
Houston: 1 (2015)
Iowa: 1 (2015)

Also, the Pedtards Div Co-Champ > scUM’s

One team went to Indy and won, the other hasn’t been there yet.

Remember, they used their bullshit COVID numbers not just to duck the c-note Day had waiting for them but to do it in a way that they thought would block us from both the BTCG and the playoffs.

Ah yes, I forgot 2016 when they finished at exactly #10.

2016 really exposed Harbaugh as a average at best coach.

The stars aligned perfectly and he managed to lose to a Iowa team who was 5-4 at the time and then couldnt grab victory from a Ohio State team who could not get out of their own way. (Same with FSU in the bowl, they were trying all they could to give scUM the game in the 2nd half)

Going into that Iowa game, Simple Jim was ranked #2 in the country and had run up a 19-3 (.864) record at tsun. Since then, he's gone 30-19 (.612).

Perhaps that 19-3 start should have been taken with a large grain of salt becaus his best win in that time was either beating a very mediocre Florida team with Treon frickin' Harris as its QB or a so-so Bucky team led by Alex frickin' Hornibrook, a then Freshman who would go on to be (arguably) Bucky's worst starting QB in recent memory.

The red flags were there in that ugly ass Wisconsin game (14-7) Wisconsin was just so inept, but even though they only had 159 yards. scUM needed a mid 4th quarter TD to survive them AT HOME. It just finally came unglued in the Iowa game, Iowa didnt turn the ball over like crazy like Wisconsin and got the W. The hype of 2016 was mostly off of hanging a bunch of points on bad teams. As bad as Ohio State's offense was the grand majority of that 16 game, they still ended up with more total yards than scUM.

Their second half strategy in THE GAME that year was all I needed to see to know that Simple Jim was not going to be what they hoped. Any decently coached team would have run us out of the building, like 41-10 that day. Instead, Jimmuh puckered up his b-hole and let a team that was playing ghastly football claw their way back into it and beat them in OT. It was all downhill from there.

That really wasn't the first time he had done that.

The Sparty game in 2015 is another prime example of Harbaugh puckering his brown star and blowing a game. scUM had a 9 point lead with 9 minutes left against a team that had been relatively hapless the rest of the game before and managed to give it up.

I think that was mostly seen as a "fluke" though at the time. (at least by DFBIA) Sparty shoulda never been in even a position to be able to possibly win the game on a botched punt.

Here is a new fun take

Texas and USC sucking are responsible for Ohio State being better than Michigan

https://www.mgoblog.com/mgoboard/texas-inability-keeping-talent-state-problem

Texas inability of keeping talent in-state is a problem.
Submitted by bleed blue 1 on June 30th, 2021 at 4:53 PM

Out of the Ten highest rated players in the state of Texas they only have 3 . When you narrow that to the top 5 they only have one . And Lastly they have zero in the top 3 with our rival having the top 2. Incompetence at getting a actual head coach has created a pipeline from Texas to O$U with us having to face the brunt of the consequence. The same can be said for USC and the Cali pipeline they got going . Thats why I'm hoping the coaching hires actually turn out well for them even though it probably won't based on past history.

The amount of people Missing my point entirely is astonishing. The reason OSU is recruiting so well is because they can easily poach talent from texas and cali because the main schools located their are horrible. Michigan is recruiting at a high level the problem is Ohio state is literally recruiting like never before seen in Ohio state history because of a weak local texas and cali local .

If it's so easy why isnt Michigan doing the same thing :tibor:
