After reading this, from my POV, this cat just doesn't get it. He's obtuse as hell.

The Title:

There's No Question About It: Ohio State Has Zero Respect For Michigan

The Final Paragraph (emphasis mine):

Regardless of the outcome on Monday night, we know what the Ohio State Buckeyes will be doing in the hours that follow - preparing for Michigan. If the Wolverines hope to change the narrative of this once great rivalry next fall, the work begins now.

There's only one legitimate descriptor for a piece of writing wherein the final paragraph refutes the title utterly

Stupid

Of course, we have zero respect for scUM. What is there to respect about that worthless, pathetic program? They're arrogant, entitled bastards living in the past. And they can't beat us. No respect earned, no respect given.

I think we do need to be careful about how we're defining our terms here.

You can't hate something without respect. It might be one of the lowest levels of respect, but there is an aspect of respect to it.

Our feelings regarding TTUN though come closer to despising them than hating them though, and despising them can absolutely happen without respecting them. But is that the case here?

I'd say that many of us fans despise TTUN and their fans without respecting them.

BUT

The Buckeyes... The team... The "they" that "we" cannot really claim to be a part of... Those guys will begin preparing for TTUN as soon as they're done celebrating tonight's victory. Even their opponents know it.

You do not prepare for something for most of the year without respect. That's what the TTUN buffoon who wrote that clap-trap is missing. We should not miss it.

Maybe it's what @BB73 says: Maybe it's respect for the rivalry rather than the rival. In my opinion though, respect for the rivalry IS respect for the rival.

It might be a pitiful form of respect. It might be a respect that is a distant cousin of the respect that we feel for things that we don't despise. It might be the lowest form of respect, lower even than the respect for something you hate; but it is a form of respect.

Cooper missed this point. No Buckeye should ever miss it ever again.
