And IIRC his abilities as a QB were always suspect. I believe most schools were recruiting him as a DB or WR.

I could be wrong but I think the only school who was seriously looking at him as a QB besides scUM was Syracuse

The obsession with anyone who "runs really fast" regardless of size or other abilities when rich rod hit the scene there was pretty funny shit

Yes, sure. But fielding yost won alot of games beat a lot of high schools and small colleges that didn't even know the rules of the game when he showed up with his gang of mercenaries who'd already used up their collegiate eligibility at Eastern Schools before being "recruited" to Ann Arbor.

To be fair, only one of those "high schools and small colleges" was a high school. I'll allow the rest of your statement to be entered into evidence.

Can't add a poll to an existing thread, but let's get a feel for who transfers out first:

A) Slot Machine Jesus
B) Join Me If You Want Win Championships

I'll say SMJ goes first.

The other one has some grit to him. Now, it may be retard grit but I don't think they are in a position to be picky.

To be really fair, everybody played teams that were military camps, high schools, a bunch of rummies rounded up the night before. At the same time, most "college" teams were made up of professional students, local bullies, AWOL soldiers and sailors, and steamfitters. To be fair, records should be limited to 1910 - by which time the reforms started by TR and the NCAA had taken control - to the current year. Now add 'em up and let's see where we stand.

I ran across a pretty cool site years ago that did a deep dive into college seasons way way back when. It was pretty well established that the real power in college football was in the east, ivy league in particular, and football out this way was considered an inferior product to it. I'd defer to @BB73 of course, as he was... what.... 75 back then?

Anyway.. point is, if scUM had tried playing, say, Harvard instead of the upper Midwest institute of sewing they'd probably have had their dicks kicked.

You’ve always underestimated the importance of the forward pass, simply because you never saw those games without it.
