We rushed 3 men a lot also playing to not allow the deep, quick strike TDs also. 5 blocking 3 and the QB throwing fast means no sacks. Lucky we even got pressure to be honest.

I re-watched the first part of the game. OSU stopped Purdue on 4 of their first 5 drives. Two of those stops were of the stopped on 3rd down variety, one was a QB fumble one was a muffed punt. They were bringing more pressure early on, then it was 35-7 and the rush 3, drop 8 but don't play zone very well thing started.

Only six 1,000 receivers in school history. Never had two in the same year.

Boston - 1998
Glenn - 1995
Carter - 1986
Jenkins - 2002
Campbell - 2018
Smith-Njigba - 2021

Might have 3 this year:

T-1. C.J. STROUD (OHIO STATE QB)

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud had one of his biggest days of the year against Purdue. The redshirt freshman completed 31 of his 38 pass attempts for 361 yards and tied a career-high with five touchdown passes. He would have had a sixth but a 49-yard scoring pass to Chris Olave was called back due to a holding penalty on tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Stroud had the second best odds of any player Monday to twin the Heisman Trophy, via Caesar's Sports Book, and is squarely in the picture to receive an invite to New York City at minimum if he keeps it up.

T-1. JAXON SMITH-NJIGBA (OHIO STATE WR)

On a historic night for Ohio State's receiving corps, Smith-Njigba became just the sixth receiver in program history to top 1,000 yards for a season with two games remaining in the regular season as the Buckeyes cruised past Purdue. The record for receiving yards in a season was set by David Boston in 1998. He finished with 1,435 yards. Smith-Njigba finished with nine catches for 139 yards and one touchdown against the Boilermakers. On the season, Smith-Njigba has 1,027 yards which is now No. 6 all-time in program history. With two games to play, plus postseason, Smith-Njigba is threatening for the all-time record.

Very interested to see what they have planned for the shotgun formation with JSN as the single back.

First thought was a few different screens and a seam route to exploit the mismatch. After watching highlights, though, the thing that stood out to me was the angle route over the middle after a clear-out. That kind of play is perfect for JSN to exploit and get yac.
