Grabs bucket of ice cold water and throws it into thread... let's revisit this after this week. I don't totally disagree, but I don't think we have enough data against real opponents to be talking about all-time great offenses yet... but if we did, I'd suggest that this one reminds me of the Cryami hegemonic teams.
True, but a few teams (Minnesota/Rutgers/IU/Oregon) would actually have good statistical defenses if you removed our games from their totals. Eventually we have to give this offense credit for treating good to decent defenses like MAC level teams.

They have scored on mediocre to bad defenses with nearly perfect efficiency. That's hard to do against air.

That's' why I don't think the better defenses will necessarily shut OSU down, I just doubt they'll keep scoring 50 a game but I hope I am as wrong as I have ever been.

Anyone can look and see the talent at WR and RB and know that any defense is going to A) have a hell of a time taking just one element away and B) pay a price to the one they don't try to take away even if they are somehow able to make the offense one handed.

Are the defenses I listed bad though or are they bad because we made them look bad? We've played a few bad defenses but Oregon/Minnesota/Rutgers/IU aren't bad defenses IMO. Sure they aren't elite but I wouldn't say they're bad.

You look at defensive points per play (one measurement of how good/bad a defense is overall) and you see IU down at #106, Maryland at #98 and Rutgers at #59. That isn't all just because OSU dropped 50 on them.

Minny is #38 and Oregon is #25 so yeah, I'd give them the nod up to solid.

Again, I think this offense can drop 40+ on anyone in any given game but it's worth noting that better defenses await.

JSN SZN. Before the season started, Garrett Wilson called Jaxon Smith-Njigba "probably the best receiver I've ever seen," which seemed rather hyperbolic considering that JSN was widely considered the third-best receiver on the roster.

Turns out, Wilson might have been on to something.

He also happens to be – as Wilson predicted before the season started – the highest-rated receiver on the roster, according to Pro Football Focus.

So I guess now when Chris Olave tells me that the receivers room is full of players just as good as the three starters who can "do the same thing," I'll have to consider that those words might be more than just a talking point.

Crazy to think about how good these 3 are! There are legitimate arguments for all 3, about who's the best
What a time to be a Buckeye fan :oh:

One offensive champion this week. Day sending a message.

and no offensive player of the game
I like a coach not afraid to send a message to his players. He expects better of this offense. Just like earlier in the year he expected better from the defense(though that was more the coaching)
Nebraska is going to get a very angry tOSU offense. Day was no doubt right for doing that though.

So many back breaking penalties, 1 of 6 in the redzone for TDs and the OL struggled. That said I thought the game plan wasn't wonder either. Too many early down runs which put us behind the sticks.

Ryan said it after the game. If we just convert a few more of those red zone trips this is a pretty standard 45-24 kind of win.

Looking back at that game though I also think we could've done more to get Olave and Wilson a bit more involved.

After a game like that, with the myriad of issues, I sorta wish they named a coach of the game/week...wonder if an offensive coach..or play caller would have been graded champion this week?
I don't think so... Letterman Row today made a good point which I agree with. It was almost like Ryan Day was forcing this OL to man up and play better. Only problem is they really didn't play too much better. Tons of 3rd and shorts where we ran and a lot of first down rums as well.

For some reason Ryan Day tends to do that vs PED.

I don’t blame him to be honest. There’s gonna come a point where the OL has to nut up and move some people on 3rd/4th and short.
