Okie State’s defense improved every year he’s been there. That’s a great indicator. My only concern is that their great defense this year was littered with 5th year juniors and 6th year seniors.

But, if this comes to fruition it’s a hell of a hire.

In the last two years, Okie State is leading the nation in 3rd down defense. Allowing around 26%.

Recruiting at Duke & Okie State isn’t easy. I think the best way to evaluate that would be to look at the impact those guys he recruited had on their program.

If Coombs and/or Barnes stay at OSU, it's not as big of a deal. I'd rather have him focus on LBs and the defensive restructuring and have him visit recruits whenever necessary.

He has been a recruiting coordinator a couple times, including Ole Miss in 2003, for whatever that's worth.

With what little I know of him, I'd see it as a home run hire. Aggressive defenses, great on 3rd downs, improved every year to the point that it was good to elite nationally playing in the "defense optional" Big 12.
