2021 College Football Polls

I don't follow what is so clear about Oklahoma being superior to U-M that OU should be ranked higher or a voter should lose their vote. There are a number of statistical criteria that support U-M as probably a better team than Oklahoma. At some point you have to throw out what you thought the teams would be in the preseason and acknowledge them for what they actually are today. U-M has looked more dominant against their opponents (Sagarin SOS #16) than Oklahoma has against worse competition (Sagarin SOS #52).

OU needed two 4th Q FGs at home to escape WVU, including a walk-off game winner as the clock hit 0:00. They've had one possession finals vs Tulane, K State, Texas, and a common opponent shared with U-M, Nebraska, whom OU got at home vs U-M playing on the road. OU has given up 30+ points to three different opponents, U-M hasn't allowed that once. Grinch's D gave up 35 to a 1-5 team from the American conference.

Both teams have flaws. U-M's has been finishing drives. OU's has been getting gashed (Texas had 8 plays of +25 yards).

It was on the road. Tough environment. A&M should probably be ranked in the top ten. They’re better than their losses would indicate. Bama was sleepwalking. The team wasn’t able to sleep on those tough pillows.

…should I keep going? Trying to hit all the right notes.

Lol I was gonna say only Bama can lose to a mediocre team and only drop 4 spots (well MAYBE Clemson) you basically just have to come to terms that Bama is allowed 1 free loss every year. It takes 2 to MAYBE knock them out of the playoff

Some people trying to pretend that Texas A&M now is anything but mediocre is pretty hilarious though. They were just coming off a loss to a crappy Mississippi State team at home
The excuses I’m hearing from some media types are hysterical. One talking point I’m hearing is that A&M has a ton of talent and just needs to put it all together. You know who also has just as much talent if the composite rankings are to be believed? Oregon, yet people couldn’t shit on Ohio State (and they honestly deserved it) fast enough.

Reminds me of when Florida lost to that terrible LSU team last year. CFP dropped them 1 fucking spot to hedge their SEC spot in the playoff if they happened to beat Bama in the SEC title game. "LSUs talent is finally coming together" were the cries from ESPNSEC. Its cartoonishly comical how rinse and repeat the same arguments are when one of the higher rated SEC teams struggles badly or loses to some mediocre type. Always find a way to spin it into a "good loss"

You missed the sun got in my eyes and the dog ate my homework. As I used to tell my daughters, once you start to make them one's as good as another.

“Whoever wins the East is going to beat Iowa in the championship game I suspect. I mean it here's the thing, if the Big Ten Championship Game was at Kinnick, I would pick Iowa. There's something about that place. It's very difficult to win and to win a big game in that building if you're not Iowa. I just don’t think their offense is really explosive enough and good enough to win on a turf field against really any of those four teams, whoever comes out. If it's Michigan Michigan State, Ohio State. Penn State, I just don't think Iowa’s defense can do enough to overcome a lack of explosiveness offensively.”
