2021 CFB Playoff Discussion

There's no reason why we shouldn't of beat them by at least 14 points. We had a ton of yardage but couldn't close off a lot of drives.

No disagreement, but the bottom line is we didn't. Turnovers, penalties, questionable red zone play selection...good thing Ruggles was money.

Cincinnati has the slimmest chance in hell to get in even with people around them losing. SMU lost again today and Houston is trailing at halftime. They needed to destroy Tulsa today to try the transitive victory comparisons and they blew it. Try again next year kitties

Stanford grad Rod Gilmore has informed us that he believes Cincinnati is better than Ohio State. Stop the world, I want to get off.
Lol just heard this. Once again I’d like to remind people an OSU team led by CJ Stroud with a busted shoulder and still shit defense beat Tulsa by 3 TDs. Even with the struggles I firmly believe OSU would roll Cincy by 3 TDs.

A few in the media are that all that impressed with Alabama. #3 Sparty lost and probably the CFP Committee won't think that #4 Oregon, #5 Ohio State, or the #6 Juggalos looked impressive enough to jump them in the rankings.

Gilmore also believes that Oregon controls their own destiny. But I didn’t hear him mention that the team that beat Oregon, his alma mater, got their doors blown off 52-7 by Utah on Friday night. Oregon has a very bad loss, but it’s not an ESPN talking point this year.

If Oregon, tOSU, and Oklahoma all win out, Oregon will be ranked below the other two and they will need a Bama loss to end up in the top-4. They do NOT control their own destiny, despite being #4 and having #3 just get a loss.

Cincinnati has only one thing to fear, and that’s 1-loss Alabama beating undefeated Georgia. Any other scenario IMHO has them #4 if they win out.

They still need Oregon to drop a 2nd game.
Neither has a game on their schedule left that would warrant jumping somebody, and Oregon is already ranked higher.

That would put a 1 loss non conference winner GA over a 1 loss conference champ OSU and that won’t happen.

Yeeaaah... I don't believe that for a second.

I hate that the alleged CFP “committee” has made me like college football less and less.

For everybody complaining about the transfer portal or NIL ruining CFB, it’s undoubtedly the ESPN committee that’s doing it for me.

Same. The bias is too overt. It's not only in who goes, but how they engineer the game locations and seeds.
The computers weren't this bad.

In the juggalos favor, I think they'd draw bigly this year for the sole reason of being the novelty first G5 team in. Hell, every pathetic G5 fan that whines about the unfairness of "the cartel" and how they'd build the resources to compete with Bama if they only had a path to the championship with which to recruit is going to be on their juggalo bandwagon. Now, give America a couple years of the Cincinnatis of the world getting in and getting fisted by Bama or Ohio State, and I think any desire to watch them will quickly dissipate.

What's hilarious is the juggalos think they're going to start getting treated like the SEC! champ once they're in the B12 husk.

TBH, the "cartel" language isn't entirely wrong. Once everyone finishes scavenging the BXII carcass and it's nuked into irrelevance, we need a new D1A for the 4 power conferences.
Playing Mid Majors at this point is the same as playing D1AA in the 00s. Many of those upset schools have even become Mid Majors (App State, Georgia Southern come to mind).
Playing FCS / DIAA should be outright banned in this new division.

But it won’t hurt to pull for Purdue over NW’ern on Nov. 20th, which would eliminate any chance of the Buckeyes losing this tiebreaker.

^^ BLUF

Kentucky’s best win is over Florida, whose best win was a close loss to Bama.

You can make the case that 10-25 is all trash rankings. But somebody has to be ranked there, right?

Remember, that's #11 Florida. Once ranked - and especially if that ranking was against one of the blueblood favorites - they retain that ranking until after the final CFP poll.
That's how Kentucky actually went up 6 spots after losing to Georgia.
It just means more in the SEC.
Home game against Bible Aggy followed by a rematch against Oregon. Then, follow that up with the best offense in college football against the best defense. Yes, please.

Yea, I'm not a fan of massively expanding the playoff... but this looks pretty damn good.
Only reason I like expanding to 8 is because it gives us an opportunity to nuke this crummy ESPN committee, and theoretically negate the SEC bias... but who am I kidding, they would still put 5 SEC teams in and 3 schools from the rest of the country.

I mean, the last time he was doing this his beloved Alma Mater stumbled at the finishing line.
