Looking at this roster, their recruiting class, and the DFBIA why would Luke Fickell or Matt Campbell leave their current spots? Both have built solid roster at Iowa St and UC and could actually win games for the next few years with little fanbase or admin pressure. The only thing scUM offers is a larger salary and a bigger name brand. I just don't see a coach having current success, wanting to leave for a school with unrealistic expectations. Both coaches would need to beat MSU and get 9-10 wins in year 1 for them to be seen as a success over Hairball. DFBIA doesn't want to hear about rebuilding, they want a rivalry win and a bowl game win immediately or the seat will get hot. They're not beating OSU as long as the recruiting/talent gap remains as large as it has been. And Ped St won't stay down for long, and IU is surging, this is no longer the Big 2 conference, teams won't just roll over at the sight of the winged helmets. Sucks to be them

Exactly. For all of the talk of the success of Fickell and Campbell, they could easily be Hoke and Rich Rod in 5yrs...This idea cannot be said enough. It isn't the job they think it is anymore because of the gap between expectations and reality when it comes to them competing with OSU.
Coaches know this, the DFBIA and sportswriters by and large do not. Rich Rod and Hoke are a cautionary tale of what happens when you walk into a 'destination job' and fall flat on your face. Gone in 3 years and not for any greener pastures.

And again, Jim Harbrau was THE guy. He was the hottest coach available in 2014 and was universally praised as a hire that would without a doubt fix their broken program. If THAT guy can't fix them, who can? And he not only didn't fix them, if he's gone, he's leaving a smoldering heap of crap for the next guy to clean up with a broken reputation and a juggernaut 3 hours to the south. This idea cannot be said enough. They don’t remember that, because in the middle of that run, they hired Hairball, which of course meant they had a better December 2014/January 2015 than the Buckeyes did. They're moaning that playing now is pointless because they're down to their third string qb. This is where we remind them that Ohio State won a National Championship after a remarkable three game run with their third string qb.
That's not fair, though. Our guys were really good and got hurt. Their guys either sucked or bailed on them.....or both. They're moaning that playing now is pointless because they're down to their third string qb. $$$$$$$
The B10 has a monetary interest in OSU being in the CFP.
They will do anything they can get away with to insure this .

Because football is OSU's identity ... that team is like their first responders. Without football OSU is just another mediocre academic institution. A nothing place in the armpit of America.

Imagine still pulling out the academic card after all these years. Your statement isn't even true by the way. OSU has managed to improve themselves into most top 30 rankings for public schools. I guess top 30 in the whole US is now "mediocre". God our fanbase has so many losers.
