I know we shouldn't bash high schoolers, but you're fucking stupid if this is a surprise to you.
They decided to go there in the first place. I think that establishes a fair baseline that they are poor decision makers. Continued demonstrations of that probably shouldn't surprise us.
Not only that, they decided to sign during the early signing period rather than wait to see how things shake out which is an option for that. exact. reason.

Don Brown's defenses have always done very well against teams that they could simply out-talent. Look back.at his track record; whenever he has played a team that was either equally/more talented or well coached/schemed, his defenses regularly got absolutely slaughtered. He was horrific at making adjustments...remember 2018 when tOSU ran slant after slant after slant and torched them every time? He was not a good DC.
I think it was less out talenting the offense than there's a certain talent/skill level on offense that neutralizes his pressure heavy scheme and he doesn't have any adjustment. They never seemed to have just average games, it was either a near total shutdown or open floodgates.

Absolutely. He was, for lack of a better word, a bully. Beat up the weak, curled up in a ball when smacked in the mouth...

His "son" is the only one left from his original staff. And they guys he's been bringing in have been progressively worse. Nobody on his current staff recruits worth a damn.

Well, they can bring in the ghost of 1985 Buddy Ryan and the defense is still going to suck. Recruiting matters and Jimmy's chaotic organization doesn't build a roster properly. They have insurmountable gaps at key positions. Only 2-3 years of consecutive, coherent, elite recruiting can begin to fix what is currently wrong.

Then, of course, once you have that kind of talent you have to develop it but that's another topic.

Scrolling through this thread, because what better thing to do during the holiday season? Made it through 40 pages (still in January):
The guy that Michigan brought in for the sole purpose of landing Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary (and to a lesser extent Juwann Bushell-Beatty) and then just kinda shuffled around because they didn’t know what to do with him because he had next to no coaching experience outside of HS?

Recruiting chops or no (and I question his value outside of NJ and very specifically the three kids he coached in HS named above ), I’m somewhat concerned Michigan might accidentally hire someone competent to replace him.
NARRATOR: Michigan did not accidentally hire someone competent to replace him. That is not the Michigan way.
Still waiting for the WR room to be completely decimated by early departures as well.
Peoples-Jones: early entry, 6th round pick
Tarik Black: transfer to Texas
Nico Collins: opt out
UM is gonna lay a stinking turd against UW in their opener. Book it. All aboard for another 9-3 season!
That 9-3 season left port long ago. Michigan missed the boat, got stuck on the 2-4 season instead. So sad!
Nico Collins coming back.
Collins came back, then opted out for 2020. Cost himself one year of NFL money and did nothing to improve his draft stock. Smart guy.
Sounds like a defense destined to get pounded into the ground by any team with a capable oline.
A mediocre Wisconsin team put up 49 points and 341 yards rushing on scUM. I'm pretty sure Ryan Day wasn't joking about laying 100 on their asses.
Agreed. Michigan is a soft team that has just enough talent to beat the bums on their schedule, but 2020 could be the year when they finally quit on Harbaugh and the program implodes.
2-4 record, with the highlight being a 3-OT win over Rutgers. Refused to play their last three games. Transfer portal loaded with Wolverines. Don Brown fired. No extension for Jim-Bo. Looks like an implosion to me.
Watching these mongoloids trying to convince themselves he'd [Bob Shoop] be a good hire is fucking fascinating. He had ONE good year as a DC. The pedtards HATED him. Vols fans HATED him. He's known to be a poor recruiter. But, GREAT HIRE, JIM!

Bob Shoop is on the staff, but has not actively coached since September (undisclosed personal reasons). Definitely a GREAT HIRE!

South Carolina was set to play in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa despite a 2-8 mark, but COVID-19 issues within the Gamecocks football program meant that the team was forced to withdraw from the game against UAB.

ESPN owns and operates the game and was tasked with finding an alternate opponent for the Blazers with the Gamecocks ruled out. However, it decided to cancel the game altogether, it announced on Tuesday.

“We looked into a number of options for UAB, but ultimately could not identify any opportunities for them to play at this time,” Gasparilla Bowl executive director Scott Glaser said in a statement. “We are appreciative of the many supporters in the community, including our new title sponsor – Union Home Mortgage, and look forward to staging the game in 2021.”

Im sure Harbaugh will bring in capable replacements, he seems to be a great evaluator of under coach talent :sneaky:
Even if he was coherent enough to contact actually decent coaches, who would want to join his staff? Assuming he gets some sort of extension, he's going to be on a perpetual hot seat and working with a very undertalented roster relative expectations. If he doesn't get an actual extension and just works out his last year as a lame duck, he's gonna have to start combing local high schools for assistants, and not because they have some blue chip recruit he wants to sway...

Made it through another 40 pages (now up to the end of March)....
They are on a roll today.
Back to the 5'8 150 pound DB [Andre Seldon] they are blowing their wads over
Could he be good? Sure, who knows. But considering his size, or lack thereof. Only DFBIA could look at him and say "INSTANT STUD!"
Andre Seldon chose uniform #0 ... which is exactly the number of snaps that he played in 2020. Not quite an INSTANT STUD!
A few points in tsun's favor. Their boasts about academics are at least grounded in reality, if not quite at the level they think. What achievements and success did Fredo ever have before the 60s or much less WW2? They were referred to, in Ohio, as a "four corner" university no different than OU, KSU or BG and funded in an appropriations bill with them (Ohio State had its own separate annual funding bill befitting its flagship status). Before that, they literally shut their doors for a decade at the turn of the century because they couldn't find students to go there. And I'll say that tsun is definitely not a monolithic popped collar school. Entitled yes, but at least it--like other Big Ten schools-- is diverse and anyone can find their niche and fit in there.

So at the end of the day, both douchebags? A resounding yes. Just one has some things to at least be smug about. The other is just delusionally douchey.
Michigan is the trust fund brat who got into the country club on his own merits.
Arrogant Urban Meyer @ArrogantUrban

BREAKING: Jim Harbaugh has requested an NCAA waiver to not have to play Ohio State next season due to the coronavirus.
Actually, this turned out to be 1000% true.

Not to mention that you would have to pick up your family and move them to that shithole of a city and state.

Wasn't Brown a friend of Urbs? I seem to recall Urbs saying some very complimentary things about him as a coach, and last, could it be that if he'd had the talent at Michigan that Ohio State had his schemes might have worked - think Okuda, Fuller, Wade, Arnette, and Young playing Brown's defense instead of an over rated Metelus, Hill, Gray, and Paye.

Why do I bring this up? If Urbs thought highly of the guy - and given Indiana and Rutgers making games close in the second half - might it not be possible that Day might find a home for this guy in Columbus?

Just askin'
