The most reasonable list I have seen is something like;

Carter
Desmond Howard
Braylon Edwards
David Terrell
Radio Maningham

No matter who they come up with there is a huge gap after Carter and Howard.

Then, no matter who they come up with, they can't find one of more recent vintage than Radio.

He left what, 16 years ago?
Amani Toomer is pretty much the only other one that comes to mind. Jason Avant was decent I suppose.

Yeah, Toomer/Terrel/Avant were all about the same kind of guy in terms of production as memory serves.

Big step down from Carter to Howard then another big step down to that group then Braylon imo. You can pick any of them you want to, Anthony Carter played nearly 40 years ago in an era where Bo just didn't pass much and is still miles ahead of any WR they've had since.

God. It's remarkable how good BP is calling this shit. Two plus years ago, when he announced he was transferring, many of us pointed out how much he struggled at Old Miss against any team with a pulse. DFBIA went on and on about how he led the SEC in pass yards per game in 2017 before getting hurt. They ignored that he padded those stats by racking up 900+ yards and 9 tds against South Alabama and Tennessee-Martin, then went 1-4 against Cal and 4 SEC opponents totalling 8 td vs 8 int in those 5 games before getting hurt. Well, whadaya know...he was an ineffectual 2 year started up there, I can't think of one memorably positive moment from him for them and the NFL wants nothing to do with him. Well done, Harbrau. Way to elevate his game. :slappy:

If you are going to discuss top 5 receivers it bears mention that our top five receiving recruits since 2002 (the start of online recruiting forums) are:

Ginn
Fleming
Garrett Wilson
Smith-Njigba
Jalin Marshall

We just gettin' started.

Other than the disappointing Peoples'Jones the comparable list for UM does not include a WR recruit more recent than 2005.

Ok, if you don't count '94 and "one of our greatest wins ever", that 13-13 contest in '92.

How far we've come.
As an aside....

I've always thought that Gee's infamous comment was a reference to the 1968 Harvard-Yale contest:

For the first time since 1909, both teams were undefeated (6-0 in conference, 8-0 overall) when they met for their annual rivalry game on November 23, 1968. Led by future NFL star running back Calvin Hill and quarterback Brian Dowling (from Cleveland St. Ignatius), nationally-ranked Yale was heavily favored to win and they quickly built a 22–0 lead. With time running out, Yale still led 29–13. But Harvard scored 16 points in the final 42 seconds to tie the game. The Harvard Crimson declared victory with a famous headline: "Harvard Beats Yale 29-29". (Paraphrased from Wikipedia)
There is a documentary movie about that game, also titled "Harvard Beats Yale 29-29", which has interviews with many of the players (including actor Tommy Lee Jones, a guard for the Harvard team).

Gee, a bow-tie-wearing Ivy League egghead, might have had that game in mind when he made his notorious "one of our greatest wins ever" quip. Too bad for him, Buckeye Nation was in no mood for highbrow wit that day. Maybe "You're fired!" would've have played better....
