Day celebrated the growth and leadership maturity Justin Fields has polished this offseason while confirming Wyatt Davis practiced yesterday and Shaun Wade is "on his way" to join the team in Columbus. He did note the need to "fill out some paperwork," they deserve a chance to play and he believes they will.

With the mid-week news of the Big Ten football season's start slated for October 24, Day said the team had Thursday off and returned to have one of the best practices he's been around in 10-20 years on Friday.

“I left that practice with a smile on my face. I'm so happy for these kids," Day said.

Ahh, I mistakenly thought that no eligibility rule was for teams that would play a spring season. Thx
I found a reference to a late August announcement by the NCAA that had some interesting wording - "2020 will not count against an athlete's 4 years to play 5".

As I read that a kid who has already redshirted would not get a 6th year later, but a kid who has not could play 5 in 5.

Why is everyone saying we need to win by a billion points? Who doesn't have a cake schedule? The SEC? You think they'll put 4 of them in?

I'm not saying we need to. It's just that it's 2020 and fuck if I need any 2nd-4th quarter stress. Hell I'd be happy to score on the opening kickoff of every game. Doesn't matter if we are kicking or receiving.

As long as we win all our games we will be fine...

Agreed, if we are going to go into CFP conversation here it's important to remember that ND is in the ACC this year so they don't get their usual inside track to fuck things up for all the real teams. The PAC 12 is also basically tapped out with how late they are potentially coming back if I am not mistaken.

If those two assumptions hold true, this might be the year you see the conference champ for B1G, SEC, ACC and B12 be the playoff field.

I think OSU can lose 1 regular season game, win the Big 10 and still get in.

There will be some leeway with how crazy the year is. And without ticket revenue in stands, they NEED insane TV viewership, and that ain’t coming from a lot of programs that could potentially qualify. More than ever, this is the type of year, ESPN wants OSU to do well, and also pull for Bama, Clemson, and then I would think Texas (although that’s unlikely).

Anyways, issue for OSU, is if they lose a game, it has to be close (no Purdue type blow-outs), and it can’t be to a team that knocks them out of the Big 10 Championship. And I think there are going to be some funky results throughout the country with everything going on too. I wouldn’t just chalk Bama up as undefeated, or even Clemson. Weird shit is going to happen, IMO.

I strongly disagree. With us playing three games fewer than the ACC and two games fewer than the SEC, along with how many have criticized our easy schedule, we have virtually no wiggle room. The only game I can see us losing and still having a shot at making the CFP is at Slappy Valley, and that's only because they are currently considered the #2 team in the conference and that it's the second game of the season, giving us six more games to prove our worth while at the same time having plenty of left for teams ahead of us in the rankings to stumble. Aside from the Pedsters, there's not a team on the schedule that we won't be expected to absolutely steamroll, and if we were to lose to one of them--other than due to losing a bunch of starters to the virus--I think there's no chance of us making it should the ACC, Big XII, and SEC champs all go undefeated and the SEC runner-up has only one loss.
