2020 Team Discussion Thread

Whew...ok I won't lie. I was terrified without Wade lol... I pretended like we'd be fine but I was seriously terrified without him. Now that he's coming back I can say we have 2 studs at every level of our defense.

DL- Harrison/Cooper
LB- Werner/Browning
DB- Wade/Proctor

With how our offense is primed and how minor our schedule is we will walk through our schedule IMO. Wade gives us the ability to eliminate any top WR all year and that includes the playoffs. I believe Wade was our 2nd best defender outside of Chase.

I’d like Browning to become a 3rd down or 2nd and long pass rushing specialist personally. I think he has an elite first step and plays better when he’s coming downhill.

I know Borland gets a bad rep around here, but he plays gaps pretty well, and is a specialist in that he’s only on the field in “run down” situations.

I’d love to see Browning take a lot of snaps at DE. I could see him having a Thaddeus Gibson type impact, and Thaddeus actually played around 245 lbs. Browning is 250 lbs right now.

Kick Tyreke Smith inside on a rushmen package and let Browning loose on the edge with his speed.

Just one man’s opinion.

That sounds good. I'll have that

Teague will be an upgrade from JK in pass pro. Which is pretty important. He is a punishing runner of the type that will seriously wear defenses down late in the game. I love JK. But don't sell Teague short just yet. He will wear teams down with his physical style and late in the games he will plow people instead of running around them like JK did. Two different styles, both effective.

My biggest concern is a regression to a Lydell Ross and Maurice Hall kind of running attack. If I'm overly pessimistic about that, we could have a very good team. But we'll have to see.
Haha couple things...

1. 2020 OL vs 2004 OL is not even fair to compair. We will probably have 3-4 all big ten/all american players next year.

2. Our throwing game is very good unlike 2004

3. Our backs are better than 2004.

4. Our backs won't go to strip clubs

I previously would've thought you had seen Teague, Crowley, and Steele play this season...apparently you haven't if you think they're anywhere near the level of "Lie Down" Ross and "No Mo" Hall...

Those two guys couldn't see a hole if they were in a whorehouse with a pocket full of $50's.

All the years I've been watching the Buckeyes I've never seen any RB's before or since with such a profound lack of ability for such a critical skill. Younger guys, you just had to see it to believe it. I used to say Hall was a human suppository, he just went straight for the offensive lineman's ass and tried to bury himself up it.

No one on the current OSU roster is as bad as those two were. No one.

I don't believe you actually think that's even a remote possibility. My hunch is you're just trying to keep this board lively over what's about to be a long offseason. I can appreciate that

You can win a lot of games with one shut down corner. Wade.
Originally, I thought Browning was in the wrong position at LBer and should play a rush end because of his skill set. He can now do both because of good coaching. He just needs to stay healthy.
The running backs are young and even Teague is unproven and has trouble finding holes. I think Teague gets passed by one of the younger guys. Crowley? Chambers?

I think that some are selling Teague a little short, and he may face the same fate in the eyes of Buckeye fans as Mike Weber. A very solid RB who replaces a Buckeye legend. No, Teague will not be as dynamic as JK, but he can still be a very good 1000+yd rusher behind this OL, and even in a rotation if he were the starter. Heck, I personally think Crowley can beat him out as the starter, and Crowley would have similar numbers, and I'd be happy with a 600-700yd year from Teague. The dropoff at RB is going to be greatly exaggerated, just like when Zeke left, we were still fine without the superstar RB. And I wouldn't expect stellar RB numbers with the WR talent we will have. A number of runs, I can see becoming WR screens or short slants

the biggest problem we’re gonna have with the RBs that everyone forgets... Pass Pro... Teague and the rest of the tote gang weren’t in on many passing downs with teams going all out.....
