2020-2021 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Regardless of gender distinction, Ohio State is a constant in the college basketball landscape for the 2020-21 season.

The last time the two Ohio State basketball teams were ranked in the 11th week of the season the women’s team sat at No. 8 while the men’s team had just broken into the poll at No. 22 during the 2017-18 season. Fast forward three years and both teams reside in the AP Top 25 Poll once again — this time with both sets of Buckeyes in the top 11.

Ohio State is 1-of-7 schools to have teams in both AP Top 25 polls — with Michigan as the only other Big Ten school. Baylor is the only other school to have both teams in the top 11.

Out of your mind if you can’t enjoy this team and simply root for them.

I get the mini-frustrations, there’s going to be more turnovers (spoiler!) and maybe some losses but what they’ve shown this year is something you just have to smile about. Love this group.

15-4! Go Bucks!
I even went so far as to say "kiss my ass" but whatever. LOL. Damn right!

I know we don't play them next but all I want right now is to beat ttun...fuck em!@

I read UM Hoops and they think OSU is trash but they are starting to get annoyed with our winning.

I read it because it is the heaviest traffic B1G basketball board and a lot of the posters know their stuff but, man, they are smug right now. They think their team is on a separate level from the rest of the B1G and mostly they just hope they don't get scheduled out of the B1G Championship.

That said, they are 8-1 and I do think they have a good team, so they aren't totally delusional. But it sure would be nice if our boys could help cut them down to size a little bit.

Some of their posters are begrudgingly starting to give props to Holt and saying he is a good coach. Saying we have an "ugly" roster but that he is making it work somehow.

Oh how I hate them so

THIS SEEMS GOOD.
I'm new to this whole "my team is extremely good at basketball" thing. Could somebody please tell me if this is good? Because it sure seems good!

My favorite thing about this hot streak has been gradually witnessing the hopes and expectations about this team change.

At first, it was "maybe they'll be ranked!" Then it was "wow, this is a top-15 team!" Then last week, we moved into "Oh, they're going to be in the top-10! at least until they play Iowa." And now, the Buckeyes are firmly a top-five team and could be legitimately chasing a No. 1 seed.

Michigan ain't ready.

The 1-seeds in most projected brackets the past few weeks have included a rotating cast of characters alongside the Zags and Bears. Villanova has been a staple, but the Wildcats just lost convincingly to St. John's. Houston had played itself into the mix, but the Cougars suffered a shocking loss at East Carolina on Wednesday night. Michigan hasn't played in two weeks, and it's unclear how the Wolverines will look after their COVID-19 pause -- or when they will play again. Texas and Iowa also have had some weeks on the top line, but the Longhorns and Hawkeyes have both lost three of their past four.

After Thursday's win in Iowa City, Chris Holtmann's Buckeyes certainly have a path to a 1-seed, and one can say they control their own destiny for it.
