2019 NCAA Basketball Tournament Discussion (Official Thread)

I just think it's sad that they have 3 of the top 5 picks in the upcoming draft and they couldn't even make the Final 4. Too much 1-on-1, "nba-style" basketball that almost cost them in their 2 prior match-ups against lesser opponents and finally did against a more talented roster in MSU. Too many tough shots down the stretch instead of moving the ball, making the extra pass to free someone up for a better, more open look.

Tomorrow should be fun, I think MSU has the size inside and mental toughness to beat Tech. The B1G needs to wipe out that nasty 19 year titleless drought.

I'm glad Sparty took out Dook but I have no interest in seeing them win another title. I hope Texas Tech cuts down the nets in their first final four.

Big fan of UVA's style of play. They are so fundamentally sound. I did not pick them to win it all but I enjoy watching them play. So unselfish. Play basketball like it should be played.

I think Auburn will miss Chuma Okeke against UVa's bigs. The Tigers guards got them by a familiar foe, but the Cavs defense will make that more difficult.

UVA bigs don't score very much, so ...

Auburn will turn over UVA at times and face no resistance in transition. How well Auburn's Harper and Brown play will determine the outcome.

Conference pride is dumb
Why?

If that's the case, why not drop out of the Big and join the MAC - save a ton on travel money, long win streaks, instant in-state rivals. Or maybe become an independent like ND. Share with no body.

My own take - I believe if I went back through threads I'd find that the same names I see saying conference means nothing are the same folks pointing out that the Pac 12 and Big 8 don't play defense, or that the ACC has only two football programs, or that the SEC never leaves the South. In that context, they seem to be saying that conference does matter.

Now, can conference pride be overdone - like say Vandy fans chanting SEC? You bet. But to say that teams within a conference are not affected by the public's perception of the whole conference is also dumb.
