2019 NCAA Basketball Tournament Discussion (Official Thread)

I would enjoy hearing how that makes any sense.

In the sense that the stronger the conference is perceived to be, the more likely the committee is to give the benefit of the doubt to that conference's bubble teams. Hence, OSU squeaking in. Or, in the case of the love-fest for the ACC, them getting THREE #1 seeds.

In football think about how the SEC teams get treated when it comes bowling time.

This isn't hard, guys.

UVA bigs don't score very much, so ...

Auburn will turn over UVA at times and face no resistance in transition. How well Auburn's Harper and Brown play will determine the outcome.

I was referring to Auburn's ability to get any points inside. I don't think they'll be as successful with dribble drives as they were vs UK in the half court game.

They'll need to do as you suggest - live ball turnovers leading to easy fast break points. If UVa controls the pace, AU will be in trouble.

Conference affiliation has literally no impact in tournament selection. If OSU had lost at UC and Creighton, they would have been out.

I think conference affiliation (aka perception) influences seeding more so than selection.

Sparty winning this year won't mean anything for tOSU when next year's bracket is put together, so I'm rooting for this guy tonight.

Pretty excited for these two games tonight. I feel like Virginia will win by about 10 against Auburn but am really torn on who wins TTU-MSU. Culver is the best prospect on the floor for either team but it just feels like Cassius Winston is going to be the difference in the end.

Oh.....so winning the tournament bodes well for the teams from that conference in following years? Is that why the Big East was so we'll represented this year?

A lot of people dogging on the Final Four...probably those blue blood slurpers . I'm pretty excited for the matchups.

It's refreshing to not have a team I despise in the F4. That their fan boys are butt hurt makes it even better.

Sure, Bruce Pearl is a scum bag. But if he wasn't we may never have gotten 4 years of Aaron Craft.

not sure i'd say that i have conference pride per se

, but i hope msu wins partly because they're in the big ten. would i feel the same if ttun were instead in the final four? absolutely not. however, as i see it, many (or most) ohio state fans are ohio state fans because they just so happened to have been born and/or raised in ohio. i just so happened to have been born and raised in big ten territory, so it's hardly a stretch to feel some allegiance there, too.

does all of that mean i'm going to shout "big ten" over and over again after an msu win? again, absolutely not.

If they were playing bluebloods I'd be with you.

The other 3 teams have never won this tournament, so Sparty not getting too full of themselves with another title works for me...but fuck Auburn.

UVA offense counts on defensive breakdowns. When playing a top notch D, the offense breaks down because it is too system-driven and they dont have a 1-on-1 go-to guy. Dudes literally had a fast break and turned it into a shot clock violation because they didn't want to try to go through any contact to score.

ttu or uva winning certainly wouldn't bother me all that much. auburn would be annoying largely because of all the other sec fans and their vicarious claims of superiority.

but the great thing about msu winning is that it would anger ttun fans.
