Ohio State has opened at No. 5 in the initial Amway Coaches Poll, which was released on Thursday.
The rest of the top five consists of 1) Clemson, 2) Alabama, 3) Georgia, and 4) Oklahoma.
Clemson received 59 of a possible 65 first-place votes. Alabama received the remaining six votes.
The big story, however, is that consensus Big Ten favorite Michigan is somehow ranked No. 7.
Five other Big Ten teams can be found in the rankings: 14) Penn State, 17) Wisconsin, 19) Iowa, 20) Michigan State, and 25) Northwestern.
Nebraska was the first team among the “other receiving votes” and Minnesota also received one vote for 25th.
Ohio State’s week two opponent Cincinnati is also among the others receiving votes.
You can check out the entire Top 25 below to see for a fact that another Big Ten team is ranked ahead of assured Big Ten favorite Michigan.
