Poe McKnoe
Head Coach
There were questions before the season how the 2017 version of the Ohio State offense would perform with an up and down senior QB, no proven receiver, and a brand new offensive coordinator and new QB coach. Well, we have answers, and statistically it was one of the best offensive teams ever at Ohio State, and the best under Urban Meyer.
Here's the report card for the 2017 Ohio State offense:
2018 presents some constants, specifically Urban Meyer, Kevin Wilson, Ryan Day, JK Dobbins, Austin Mack, and potentially some other upperclassmen who choose not to declare, and potentially some impact newcomers.
But accompanying those constants are the unknowns, most glaringly at QB. Dwayne Haskin, possibly Joe Burrow, and Tate Martell will look to replace 5th year senior and Buckeye legend JT Barrett. Offensive line will need to replace decorated starters, and throw in a new starting TE. WR group is still looking for the go-to guy, despite Parris Campbell's yards per catch, Dixon's total TDs, and Austin Mack's clutch catches.
Will the 2018 group outperform their 2017 counterparts?
Here's the report card for the 2017 Ohio State offense:
- Tied for 6th in scoring, 4th in total touchdowns
- 7th in total yards
- QB threw for 6th (possibly 7th by the time UCF plays) most TDs
- 8th in third down conversions
- 8th in first downs
