It has nothing to do with forgetting about guys who Urban has deemed to be Berry's backup. It has everything to do with not moving the next-in-line starter to the other side of the ball.

We literally may have no choice... we can't go a season with only 3 DE

I can't ever see us not using a TE but you have to imagine having 6 very veteran WRs could mean putting another WR on the field if they move Berry to defense

Austin Mack is perfectly capable of playing tight end. He really wouldn't even need to put on any weight.

With Ruckert we should have 4 TE's that can definitely play. No need to worry about that if it comes down to it.

Lots of possibilities for DE...Berry...move Jones to the outside....make Booker a rush end in
passing situations. And there is still time to land a couple good DE in this class.

Thinking more on it I'd really like to see Jones Rep outside some if he were to stay around... He came in as an end and he's got a great first step too, and not to mention his abilities against the run at the end spot would be huge.

Hope we get Dre'mont back.....that'd be a nice bonus. He's projected anywhere from 2nd-4th round pick. In preseason mocks, some had him as a first rounder, but his stock slid a little bit, although I don't think through fault of his own (cut on leg, D-line rotation, etc.).

If he does come back, I agree though. Dre'mont could be a run stuffing DE, with enough explosiveness to provide enough of a pass-rush. On passing downs, he'd slide down to a tackle making way for Joanthon Cooper, Dante Booker, whatever freshmen we might bring in.......

I have a theory... with getting Togai, Jackson, and Vincent we are absolutely overloaded at DT.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jones is coming back and is going to play a lot of DE. If he lost 10-15 pounds he would be a monster

The issue with DE doesn't arise until 2019.

Didn't know where else to put this but a potential new coach. Not replacing anyone just adding a 10th assistant as new rules allow.
