2018 FIFA World Cup (Official Thread)

I like Edinson Cavani, so I’m glad Uruguay knocked Portugal out. Plus, now all the casuals that only know Messi and Ronaldo have to cheer for unknowns (to them).

These first two knockout games have not disappointed. France looks to finally be finding their form together, and Uruguay played well enough to advance. (That Cavani goal was nice) Still don’t think they have enough to hold France in check in the next round, but with that ‘park the bus’ defensive tactic, anything can happen.

I really look forward to the shenanigans from Russia that will take place between now and tomorrow morning.

Maybe Spain's bus will break down heading to the stadium or a rash of red cards during the game.

Something from Russia. We're playing for real money now (Knockout Stage).

I was looking forward to some funny "Putin" business. Like telling the ref to give Russia a penalty or we'll kill your whole family.

Given Russia just bear hugged every Spaniard in the box on a free kick in extra time, the ref may have gotten the message. Even the VAR guys wouldn't touch it. Oh, and why are we in extra time...a penalty for Russia.

I think Putin thought Russia was going to lose. That's why he didn't show up (or at least allow himself to be televised).

Funny that if Russia wins this shootout, he emerges in a box or something.

I have a feeling Russia will win the shootout, BTW. Some funny business like lasers in eyes of the Spanish or something.

His PK was sh*t anyways, but good job by the ref "icing" Aspas.

I've seriously never seen De Gea save a PK (in Int'l or club).

And I really dislike the Adidas number fonts. The "1" and "7" look the same on the jerseys.

It was more than that online and in Vegas. It was +550 at kickoff.

And I hate people going straight up the middle on PK's. Always have.
I just did Russia “to advance” (gave me the leeway for a PK win, vs the +550 for a 90min/extra time win). Got it at +320 this morning. I’ll take it.

And I never had the stones to go middle as the PK taker.
