2018-2019 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Lol it's a basketball game. It's not hard to be mad at all.

I mean, I'm not really that mad relatively speaking. Certainly there are many more things in life worthy of anger.

But OSU basketball is my favorite team in any sport and I wasn't expecting much this season but we were in a position to make the Dance, which would have been quite an achievement given the roster situation. Kaleb's suspension has put that in very serious doubt.

It's a terribly timed mistake that he made and it could cost him and his teammates dearly, so yeah, I feel bad for the team.

After losing to Wiscy I think the Bucks will need Wesson to return AND win at least 2 games in the conference tourney to get an NCAA bid.

That's probably a good thing at this point.
I think we will only need to win 1. Especially if that 1 is against Indiana or Minnesota. 1 win against a Penn State or Northwestern and it gets a lot closer. Unless there are a lot of bid stealers in the conference tourneys.

Human beings are making the selections and Ohio State looks nothing like a tournament team at the moment. Two more bad losses sandwiched around a win over a poor team wouldn't do much to change that perception.

Getting to 20 wins is important, given the Creighton win isn't as good as it seemed and only having 1 win against a team with a .500 or higher B1G conference mark.

Won't be playing Northwestern or Penn State. Ohio State will finish as the 8, 9 or 10 seed with a loss. I tried to find all the different ways online but couldn't find it.

If Indiana beats Rutgers I think Ohio State plays Indiana if Ohio State loses to Wisconsin. I am pretty sure this makes Ohio State 8 seed and Indiana 9 seed even if Illinois wins.

Ohio State, Indiana and Illinois all 8-12 would be sorted out this way I believe

Ohio State would be 2-1
Indiana would be 2-1
Illinois would be 1-3

Ohio State beat Indiana gets 8 seed

If somehow Rutgers beats Indiana and Illinois beats Penn State it would be

Illinois 2-1
Ohio State 2-2
Rutgers 1-2

I think this means Ohio State vs Illinois

If that's true then I expect Ohio State vs. Indiana will essentially be a play-in game for the NCAA Tournament. The winner can feel pretty good about their chances and the loser will be pretty uncomfortable.

I fully expect Kaleb to play in that game although I don't think it will be enough. IU seems to be playing confidently and OSU is umm... yea not good

That NW loss might be ugly enoughnot to matter unless they make a mini run
I know that loss looks bad but we have to consider how weak the bubble is.

Most brackets have us as a 10/11 seed right now which means we are in with some room to spare even with that loss. Losing to Wisconsin probably won't move the needle much but losing the first game in the B1G Tournament will be cutting it very close, as crazy as it sounds we may still get in if all the other bubble teams do poorly in their tournaments.

Indiana is listed as out right now. If they beat us in the tournament they probably leap frog us. Which is why that game may be for the bid.

It also probably helps that we beat one of the other tight bubble teams, Creighton

They need to win one for sure. That might be enough, but 2 wouldn’t hurt
