2018-2019 College Basketball Discussion (Official Thread)

Kansas, looking to extend their title streak in the Big 12, is now 2 games back of first place with 4 to play. Kansas St has the lead, and KU will have to beat them and hope for another K-St loss in the final 3 games. KU will obviously need to win out and also need Texas Tech to lose a game along the way. I would say the odds are likely that KU won't share the title this year. The last season that KU didn't at least share the title was 2004 when Tony Allen was Big 12 POY and led Oklahoma St to the title and a F4 run.

Bruce Weber is a very solid coach. I never thought much of him at Illinois but he seems to have figured out how to run a high major program with consistency.
One area that I feel OSU coaches have been behind Bruce Weber in recent years is scouting prospects. He is very good at getting good, under the radar talent. Every single top player on their team this season was a 3-star per 247. Weber manages to find guys like Cartier Diarra, who is a tremendous athlete who has NBA-like quickness and agility. The value of having players with that kind of athletic ability is often underestimated. Diarra isn't even considered one of the best players on their team, but he is an example of the type of role player that is a difference-maker.

I know that you follow basketball recruiting very closely and that comment is just crazy. Holtmann and his staff really have had very little time to put together last year's class so I think you better look at what we have coming in next year and rethink what you just stated. Let me know when Weber brings in a class like Carton, Gaffney, and EJ

I didn't specify Holt for a reason, brother. It was more of a retrospective analysis. Basically all of the key guys on K-St are in their third or fourth year out of high school

Until someone can win at Kansas it ain't over until it's over. Tomorrow night Kansas State has the chance to give the knockout blow and end it for good but they have to win at Kansas which I doubt they can do but one can hope.
