2017 Offensive Coordinator Discussion

Special Teams is another area where we need to improve. Urban needs to get more involved with either of those areas if not both. Tresselball probably relied on FGs too much, but our kickers were almost always automatic. And guys like Nugent and Huston were wrecks to begin with, so I'd like to think that a bit more coaching there would fix things...

When Tyler Durbin was missing those kicks, I was trying to figure out who is kicking next season. If Haubeil is better than Nuernberger, I'd rather not ask Haubeil to grayshirt.

Just another headache to add to the fire.

I continue to wonder if Urban would ever pull a "Bob Stoops" and start blowing out assistants. Stoops made the playoffs the next season (2015-16).

The interesting thing is that Nuerenberger wasn't asked to start kicking after getting healthy (he is healthy now). They chose Durhin for the rest of the year over a scholarship kicker......that doesn't induce a ton of faith in Sean, IMO.

I'm hearing Kevin Wilson is a done deal. Only thing that could alter that, is at what capacity.....my understanding is it will be at OC, but I also would understand Urban requiring Wilson join in an advisory role (like Sark and Bana) prior to handing the reigns over.

Chip is interesting because he and Urban are very close. Problem is obviously the flight risk after 1 year.

No matter the hire, tonight's game was absurd. You can't take a power run team between the tackles and turn it into a finesse, spread team, running 5 wide. Damn it was bad....I love Urban but this gameplan also has to fall on him. Just miserable and honestly embarrassing....

I truly look forward to a new voice in the offensive meetings though....the last two years have been really stagnant.

Great to hear re: Wilson, and fingers crossed for a year of Chip. If they could co-exist for a year with Wilson remaining after Chip bolts, we'd be in business.

After the game, when someone mentioned 21/27 first half plays were passes, Urban said "that was not the game plan." According to him, it was supposed to be much more balanced - would love to be a fly on the wall in the conversations discussing how the hell we ended up with that ratio.

Problem is Urban is a " we do things our way" kind of guy and doesn't allow people to come in with ideas. He better adapt of we will be running 5 wide QB draws on 3rd and 1 for the next 10 years
Well, he did allow the change from Herman's dynamic tempo offense to whatever the fuck we've been witnessing the last two seasons...

It was some sort of perfect vortex of fuckery that helped along this incredible decline. A lot of 2015 was excused by a QB controversy and then putting Warriner up in the booth the last 2 games (when it was talent).

Then the hot start this year...finally ending in a tremendously huge pile of shit. At least no excuse I guess...Just hard to understand how someone like Urban doesn't recognize it sooner.

Not the least bit surprised. Urban did the same thing last year with the QB debacle. Even though JT was healthy he went with the hot hand (Jones).
