I don't remember the 1974 Rose Bowl, so this is the first victory OSU has had over USC in my memory.

Cotton Bowl delivers highest non-CFP semifinal rating of New Year’s Six era
The game, which saw Ohio State cruise to a 24-7 victory, delivered a 5.9 overnight rating, which is the highest-rated non-CFP Cotton Bowl of the New Year’s Six era, according to ESPN.
In addition, the latest Cotton Bowl was up 84 percent from the game last season between Wisconsin and Western Michigan and up 11 percent from the Cotton Bowl during the inaugural year of the New Year’s Six on Jan. 1, 2015.
What’s more, the Ohio State-USC Cotton Bowl is the bowl game’s second-best non-CFP semifinal rating on record, across all networks, according to ESPN.
Not surprisingly, Columbus led as the highest-rated market for the bowl game with 43.3, followed by the Ohio cities of Dayton (23.9), Cleveland (21.0) and Cincinnati (13.5) to round out the top four.
