Game Thread 2017 Cotton Bowl: OSU vs. USC - 12/29/17 @ 8:30 ET (ESPN)

We made the committee look stupid last year. Tonight we're showing they learned from their mistake.
committee tonight is all like...

I know it's not pretty, but I've never had one single second of worry tonight. If it were closer, I'm sure we'd be seeing a different Offense. This coaching staff, does what they do. When you lose 2 games or less every single season, you get to have those tendencies if you want to.

Buckeyes 12-2, BiG Champions and Cotton Bowl Champions. I love it.

Agree. It's obvious that they packed it up in the 2nd half, just frustrating to watch and dangerous to do so that early. Still, it's kind of them to give the defense more opportunities to hit Darnold.

I'm pleased with the end result tonight, but if you're thinking the offense would look much different if we were playing Clemson Monday...I think you're kidding yourself. Better chance it would look worse.

Well, we can bitch and bitch about the offense, but a win over USC is AWESOME.

I think the offense, at times, looked much better this year. And like I said, I think the coaches saw that USC couldn’t work against our D and buttoned it up. Tressel-ball, to use the parlance of our times.

I’ve said many, many times that I think the play calling is somewhat limited by the qb. Kevin Wilson had a ton of success at OU, and fielded scary offenses at IU with detritus. I guess we’ll find out next year.

I hope Haskins is the starter next year. Whether Urban wants to admit it or not, the offense clicked the most when we had a bigger, more pocket type QB. Especially when the o-line is playing well. JT, thanks for 4 great years, but I think the progress trends just weren't what many of us wanted or expected. Some of that could have been coaching changes, poor o-line play at times, etc. But tonight's offensive gameplan was underwhelming to say the least.

What's sad is that even with Haskins I think this OSU team would be right there with any of the 4 teams and belonged. But Urban's one-track mind with JT wasn't going to be changed...
I agree... we have no vertical threat and no timing on our throws. JT can't throw people open and it really does kill us.

It's too bad too because we had the defensive front to win it all this year. This may have been the best DL performance I've ever seen from literally any team I've watched.
