Yeah I don't understand. Its the most "prestigious" bowl outside of the CFP and its still not considered a NY6 bowl?
How about moving the 2nd rate Citrus bowl to Dec 29th?
Thanks muchI just checked Orbitz. A $600 pp flight (CMH-DFW) & 2 nights in a good hotel was available as a combo package. There were several hotels for that price range too. The flights were good times/connections, going on Delta and returning on American. I'm sure the cheaper flights and hotels will book fast.
Cotton and peach weaseled their way into being New Years 6 bowls. Fiesta, sugar, rose and orange are historically the top bowls, but we needed 6 so there we go. A traditionalist will say WTf. Future generations will see cotton as great.
Joe Montana's legendary performance comes to mind.Well first off thanks to all you youngsters for your discussion regarding the historical irrelevance of the Cotton Bowl. I now feel like the old fart I am for having to say that.....
Actually the Cotton Bowl was from it's inception one of the 4 "Major" New Years Day bowls historically (along with the Rose, Orange and Sugar). It tied in the Southwest Conference Champion (Yes that was a thing too). It often had National Title implications when the Southwest Conference Champion (in particular when Texas) was highly ranked. Its relative demise as compared to other bowls coincided with the break up of the Southwest Conference. That break up left the Cotton to tie in the runner up of the newly constituted Big 12 conference leading to all those forgettable games you young whipper snappers remember ([Mark May], you guys are likely to not understand that sarcastic reference as well)
